Immolation doesn't get the praise or mainstream recognition of peers like Morbid Angel or Cannibal Corpse but they write some of the tightest, most creative death metal riffs. Also, the album artwork is one of my favorites. It sets the mood perfectly for the dark, heavy, sinister music, but does it subtly without the need for gory or offensive imagery.
All I have to do is see the words Pripyat or Chernobyl and I'm instantly intruiged. The music itself is like Marooned by Pink Floyd, but instead of being one song, it's like eight. Highly recommended.
This is one of my favorite thrash albums from the 80s. It has a fun energy to it that reminds me of punk or even crossover. The album is always a fun listen and the songs are even better live. I always have a great time at an Anthrax concerts. The few times I have seen them the vibe in the audience is more like that of a giant party than a concert.
