Last Fair Day Gone Night Tour 2011

A brillant gig; loved it!!! Even if I did miss Criminals and Idle Blood, it was a great gig; I caught a drum stick and pick! (Lost the latter on the way back to CR haha.)

I left right after Katatonia and missed Bloodbath!!

SUUUUCKS! The Bloodbath tracks were an amazing treat, still can't believe it.

Swedish dark rockers KATATONIA have issued the following update:

"With highly successful performances in Luxembourg, Germany, Holland, France, England and the United States done earlier this year, we will close 2011 this December by performing four last extra shows in Scandinavia hitting the capital cites Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and, of course our hometown Stockholm.

"KATATONIA will again perform two sets at each show; the first set will see us play the front to back of 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down' — the album that put KATATONIA firmly on the musical map and coincidentally also celebrates 10 years since its release. The second set will consist of a mixed set of carefully picked songs from our extensive catalogue. In its entirety, this evening with KATATONIA will be well over two and a half hours of live music.

"The December 12th show at Göta Källare in our hometown of Stockholm will be made extra special by having ENTER THE HUNT opening up the show, but also by the appearance of four very special guests: longtime former bandmates and brothers Fredrik and Mattias Norrman will take on their old bass and guitar duties on selected songs. Also confirmed is the one and only Mr. Guillaume Le Huche (a.k.a. Israphel Wing), known for being the band's bass guitarist on their very first studio album, 'Dance Of December Souls', back in 1993. And the last special guest to be announced is Krister Linder, who's flying over from New York City and taking on vocal duties next to Jonas Renkse to depart the night's performance…"

Founding member and guitar player Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström comments: "Hosting and featuring old members, guests and friends together on the same evening for the purpose of celebrating our 20th year anniversary is not only awesomely killer, but it's also guaranteed to be a one time event only and never to happen again. To be honest, I'm just as excited as you are to be part of it and let the circle complete itself in our hometown where it started!"

Wow. I could technically afford to go and make the trip but I couldn't justify it that much. Hope you lucky Swedes have a good time. I will have to make do with seeing October Tide next week.

Damn, it would be awesome if they could somehow include this final 2011 show on the LAST FAIR DAY GONE NIGHT set. That way we would have two concerts and maybe some of the songs that weren't performed at the London show, could be covered here.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hadn't planned on going but now nothing, absolutely nothing can stop me. I couldn't live on happily if I had to miss this awesome extra special event with all those lovely extra special guests.
My dear Kataboys, I love you for making this happen. And for announcing it in time!
This will most likely be the best concert or even the best day of my life!
I'm just a little confused about the date. It should be the 14th, not the 12th, right???

I just jizzed me pants.

Pffff!
Definitely not going. That line-up is ridiculous. Seriously. Who's able to stand THAT?
Far too much awesome. It just has to be incredibly unhealthy, someone might get a heart attack from excessive fanboy/girl-ism. I rather stay here and go to work... thank god I cannot get holidays even if I wanted. Lucky me!

Waaah indeed. :'( If I had known, I'd skip the trip to Germany and go directly to Sweden.

So is it possible that we haven't heard more about the upcoming LAST FAIR DAY GONE NIGHT dvd release because the band/label are intending to include this upcoming guests-a-plenty show into the package? I sure hope they will (as well as include the live audio cds).

Yes indeed, the show was brilliant and therefore it surely deserves a few more words, so here we go:
The support band was Enter the Hunt. They hardly ever play live, that alone was already worth travelling all the way to Stockholm. The sound could have been better but nonetheless it was great to see and hear them, especially the beautiful and charismatic singer. Which is Krister Linder, in case anyone didn't know.
Next up was the LFDGD- set which I suppose all true Kata- fans have already seen at one of the anniversary- shows, so I don't need to tell you how good it was ;)
A little break and then the best of- set. It was something like this (order is probably wrong though) : Forsaker, Liberation, Longest year, Wait outside, My twin, I break, Evidence, Ghost of the sun, July, For my demons, Day and then the shade, did I forget anything?
And then came all the extra special guests, one after another:
Mattias played Leaders, so nice to see him on stage again! Guillaume (looking like a cool and dark rockstar) played Without god (vocals by Anders) and I was insanely happy to finally hear this song live again! Fred's choice was the good old Murder (with Anders again). Then Mr. Mysterious- Frank Default- appeared, joined by only Jonas and Niklas. And they played something I did not expect at all- Unfurl!!! Goosebumps... Meanwhile, I had somehow managed to get to the frontrow (thanks to some people who were stupid enough to leave before the climax), so Krister stood right in front of me, singing Departer. It couldn't have been any better! I can't really express how happy and privileged I felt. So beautiful and magical...
After the show, I was hanging out with Hobo and some other lovely people. It was awesome to meet the Norrman- Sweethearts again. And later on, we even got to talk to Krister (thank you Hobo for encouraging shy me:oops:). What a friendly and warm- hearted guy! I even got A HUG from him :loco:
A wonderful night indeed! Biggest thanks to Katatonia, all the special guests and everyone who shared the magic with me. My condolences to those who would have loved to be there but couldn't.
Indulging in sweetest memories while eagerly awaiting the new album...

^sounds fantastic!

The girlfriend and me saw them yesterday at Eindhoven Metal Meeting. Not that much magic because of the rush (50min set and not a minute more! Damnit, take 30min from Heaven Shall Burn or someone..!) and struggles with the sound.. at one point Anders' mic partially gave up which was sad and with EVERY SINGLE BAND the bass was WAAY too loud.. seriously, when Marduk played some hours before you could not hear the guitars at all..

BUT! We stood right in front of the stage, band our necks sore and could hear jonas sing. all the mixing trouble aside, what matters more? Just like 1,5,m from the guys.. nice! Had a really good time there. :)

Sadly the rest of EMM was more.. a mixed bag. :D
