Yeah, I didn't know that either. Definitely one of the most iconic voices in sports. Speaking of Buffer, some of his flubs are hilarious. One of my favorites is: "the best there is! The best there ever was! The best there ever will be! The HITMAN... BRRRRREEETTTT." Dude forgot he had a last name. And then some time later, he remembered Bret had a last name but called him Bret Clark lol

It started to feel like Buffer was just ribbing Bret after getting his name wrong for the 3rd or 4th time 
from what I read he really enjoyed doing the WCW stuff though. I imagine the paycheck helped make that a positive association. Yeah he definitely has an 'announcing voice' which probably helps now that he's older, as he can still bust that out quite convincingly.I read that apparently UFC wanted him to do some of the early events in the mid-90s, but his WCW contract meant he couldn't do it, so his brother got the gig instead. Thought you might get a kick out of this. I got Suno to do a metal cover of the classic Ministry of Darkness theme, then added it into the Undertaker's WM XV entrance (probably my favourite UT entrance, even though the match itself is shit). Unfortunately the crowd noise is pretty much lost, but I still think it's kinda cool

Wow, all of these are really cool. Taker's Ministry of Darkness theme is one of my all time favorites. It was so good.
The 'A Man Called Sting' cover made me think you should have Suno cover American Males, one of the most unintentionally great entrance themes of all time. This one makes me want to watch early/mid 90's WCW. I'm so fucking nostalgic for that era of WCW.

Yeah Taker's themes from late-1998 and through the Ministry era were all pretty cool. It was nice that they did little creative twists here and there to the themes as well. The one he used at WM15 was, as far as I'm aware, a one-off version of the Ministry theme which is similar to the normal one but also has some subtle differences. You don't get that kind detail applied to the modern day.
I hadn't considered American Males, haha, I might have to try that one - and the Steiner Brothers theme too. I was going to cancel my Suno account as the month was up, but then they sucked me back in by offering another month for $5. Figured I might as well at that price.

I don't have much love for Triple H as a booker, but I guarantee if he had been in charge back then, Sting's WCW crow theme would have been used. Speaking of Suno, I was about to sign up for premium but I figured I might want to test out the free tier again first. It appears uploading stuff is hit or miss. I got hit with copyright notices on about half the stuff I tried to "cover." Is there a way around any of that? I tried uploading some pretty obscure stuff too, and it still got blocked. None of the wrestling themes did though. I read that it scans lyrics, though I don't know if that's accurate.
Is the free tier using the v3.5 model? If so then honestly it's way behind v5 - I remember at the time getting some OK stuff out of v3.5, but honestly even v4 is a massive upgrade and v4.5 and v5 are way better. v3.5 does not do justice to what Suno can do nowadays.
As far as uploading copyrighted stuff, yeah it is very random. I was able to upload most of Clayman, for example, but OFTW was blocked. Something else I find quite cool is that if you give it a snippet of a melody, it can use that melody and wrap a song around it. As an example, I've always liked the opening theme to Neutopia, which is a somewhat obscure old RPG for the TurboGrafx16:
I basically took the audio from that and used the 'cover' option and then wrote a bunch of verses, chorus, etc, and it created an entire power metal song which utilises that theme in the opening, as part of the instrumental some way through the song and in the ending section:
So that's another interesting way to utilise the cover feature to create something different. Scarily I've had this one and a bunch of other PM-style songs created in Suno on repeat for a couple of weeks now. I'm not into the idea of monetising stuff like this, or even really releasing it publicly on streaming platforms, but for personal use it's quite nice. It definitely knows how to create vocal hooks and earworm choruses. Probably when it comes to power metal that isn't so difficult though, as the genre isn't exactly known for having a broad range of complex vocal or musical arrangement. Train a model with the classics and it's going to get how to do it pretty fast.

Yeah, I'm just using the free 3.5 model. It does randomly give me one minute samples made with 5, and it sounds much improved. I just don't really want to pay for it if it's going to hit me with copyright notices all the time. I'm with you on the monetization part of it. There's a lot of that on YouTube -- people trying to pass off AI as their band. I'm slightly worried that if I start uploading songs and turning them into "covers" that fit my taste better, that it will keep me from listening to the original.

I haven't really put anything I love into Suno to be covered, mainly just random stuff like TV show and old chiptune game themes. I did a couple of IF tracks, but wasn't really motivated to do any more than that - even though the As The Future Repeats Today cover was objectively very nice and really brought out the melodies in a way the original doesn't. Still prefer the original, though!
I see that they now have a new free-tier model - 4.5-all. I made a lot of songs with 4.5+ that were really cool, so if 4.5-all is anywhere close to that it could give you some really good stuff. Might be worth taking a look!

Yeah, it's a shame more people won't do it. I can't even watch the product anymore. I know it's not like they're promoting Trump or anything, but just knowing that they're essentially in his pocket is enough. Knowing that somebody like Triple H, who has a wife and three daughters constantly kisses the ring of somebody like that is fucking gross. I was firmly in the Triple H camp when he took over. I thought 'hey, somebody else making creative decisions, this will be good.' Once the novelty wore off, I feel like such an asshole for thinking it, but we were better off with Vince in charge. There are several reasons for that. WWE not being under the TKO umbrella certainly would've been much better. I sometimes wonder if Triple H and Stephanie running the show without that influence would be any better. But my guess is probably not.
I just watch old stuff now. I know it makes me sound old, but it really was better back then. From an athleticism standpoint, there are way more 'amazing moments' now, but the technical wrestling, the stories, the promos, everything else was far superior. There's no comparison. With WWE doing bullshit like having the Rumble in Saudi Arabia and switching to ESPN in the States, it just makes it even easier for me to not care and stay away from it. I read the news and occasionally catch highlights on YouTube, but that's it.

Whilst I enjoyed Triple H's time as booker in NXT, I have to admit I've never been hugely impressed with his main roster booking. It's not that he's a bad booker, as such - everything he does is logical and he generally pushes the right people. The problem is that I find Triple H's WWE too logical. It lacks the unpredictability which makes wrestling special. Triple H has a very set way of running programs, and he doesn't instinctively understand when to naturally pivot when things need to do so. The only times he pivots is when he's forced to - for example during the last Cody/Roman WM buildup - and that turned out pretty well. He'll only do it if he's forced to, though, and that's not especially interesting to me as a fan.
With that said, the Cena retirement run was massively botched. Just an absolute disaster. The heel turn should not have happened if they had no plans on how to run with it afterwards. Going with an off-the-cuff story is not Triple H's strong suit, and I think the Cena heel turn brutally exposed that weakness in his booking skills. There were still some decent moments in Cena's retirement run, but it wasn't what it should have been and ended up being a pretty huge disappointment.

I think when you've been watching wrestling for some time you get to the point where everything is diminishing returns. You've seen it all before, and you've seen it done by the legends of the sport. It's difficult for anything in the current era to compare, it often just feels like a cheap imitation. Obviously for younger fans who weren't around for the 90s and early 00s it's different, but it's been a long time since I've seen anything in wrestling that made me sit up and go "yeah, that's cool". The bloodline storyline during the period when Sami Zayn was a part of it was genuinely good and fresh, but it ended up getting drawn out far too long. Some of the New Japan stuff had my attention for a while - when Omega/Okada/Naito were all doing their thing. That was a very long time ago now, though.

The Cena run being that fucking bad (and it was), seems even worse when you find out that Cena himself wanted to do a full time schedule for 2025. I think he said he wanted to do 200 dates and WWE told him they only needed him for 35, or whatever it was. One of your biggest stars of all time is willing to put everything on hold for a solid year and give you everything he has for his last run and you say 'no thanks.' That is very confusing. The whole situation is really confusing honestly. Cena has gone on record as saying that he was doing whatever they told him to, and HHH was on record saying that "John is doing what John wants to do" and inferring that he would rip up scripts and tell people he was doing something else. It's all very strange. Regardless, from the heel turn to making his last match at SNME, the run was full of bad decisions.
