Limbonic Art

they have a new album coming this summer i think.. ckeck www.nocturnalart.com for more info.

i dont like it too much, its to.. sterile.. as it often gets when they have a orgy of synths and drummachines. it gets rather boring after a while. but they do have some good stuff, very epic raw black metal.

Well.. sadly... I've listened to all four albums now.. and well.. compared to the first album.. the other three quite frankly bore me to tears. Their first album is near to perfection. The rest are just... bleh... just hours of blast beats...... and the keyboards are still prominent, but just bleh..

oh well... was good while it lasted...

we'll see.

WOW.

HELL YEAH!!! :spin:

One of the first black metal albums I got was Moon In The Scorpio. Very epic stuff, I like all the tracks, especially In Mourning Mystique, is good coming after the overture! I also love the ambience between each track.

I have the first 2 albums, know of a third one but haven't heard it. The second seems to be a bit less atmospheric, but it still has a few good riffs. Must check out the others!

As far as I know Limbonic Art is no longer, one of the guys went to do Dimension F3h, which I didn't really care for. The first two albums are the best. If i remember correctly their 'third' album 'Epitome of Illusions' was a collection of pre-moon in the scorpio demo songs. The fourth album featured no keyboards which was a real bummer since that was sort of their trademark. Overall, a good and unique Black Metal band.

Limbonic art were an odd band which seemed to fall through the cracks of the black metal scene. mostly because they didnt come about until after most the hype had dribbled away. But also because they were not quite as organic or interesting as say arcturus with the symphonic avant garde sound...nor were they streamline or brutal enough to be lumped in with other drum machine acts like mysticum in my opinion. Either way, their first couple albums i wouldnt say were totally worthless, but even though their "classical" type compositions were fairly decent achievements in an otherwise primitive genre (much like abigor or emperor), their true high point in my eyes were the vocals by Daemon, who had that "to the point" and insane almost dictator type aproach to screams...remeniscent of Aldrahn of dodheimsgard and Zyklon-B who is also fantastic with that style. Daemon would later be the vocalist on Zyklon's (the death metal band by samoth and trym) first album...and i think that had a lot to do with the lack of interest in keeping limbonic art going. Their last album was absolute trash in my opinion, so stay away from it. anyway, without getting album specific...since i havent heard any limbonic art in some years...id give the band a 3.5/5 overall i guess. if you like melodic black metal in the vein of arcturus, then give them a shot. but i wouldnt say theyre a "must listen".

I've only heard a few songs, and the keyboards seem to have the same problem as early ...and oceans and Arcturus, in that they just sound too fruity for lack of a better term. They don't have the majestic, triumphant feel of Emperor, or to a much lesser degree Dimmu Borgir. There's still a good chance I'll check out that first album they did though. Perhaps what I heard was later material.

In Abhorrence Dementia has always been my favourite Limbo-album. The computer drums are something of a turn-off though.

Another symphonic black metal band I like is Thyrane, especially their album Symphonies of Infernality. Not as orchestrated as LA, more in the vein of In the Nightside Eclipse. Also check out Enochian Crescent, though they're not exactly symphonic.
