Guys i'm planning to record live drums for a band. but the studio were hiring does not have that good drum kit! so i'll need to replace the tone of the drums. how do i do that? i would like to go on for free! please help me

Depends on what you want to replace, really..

If the studio doesn't have any contact mics for triggering, and you want to replace the kick and snare; just mute them with tape/rubber on top of the snare, and fill the kick with blankets/something..
Then just place a mic pointing at the top of the snare, and then mic the backside of the kick close to the club of the pedal..
If you want to replace everything, and still work with regular mics, then when you mic parts of the kit, point the mics away from each other to isolate the parts..

It's sort of pointless (not always) to record live drums at all if you're going to replace everything..
Check if the studio has a midi-kit or if the band can bring their own gear..

just for the love of god make sure the cymbals are good.

Aint much you can do about those after the fact!
