My first tube amp.

I likey :)

Hi! nice amp! I just bought a dual rectifier last week! it kills!!
Do anybody know if there is a notisable difference between the two?
I know mine has a "silicon diode/tube" setting and a "bold/sponky" setting.
I've heard that the single only may run at "tube" "sponky", wich isnt that cool if you ask me.. Or am I wrong??

Duals have a third channel and are 100 watts. Singles have two channels and are 50 watts. Actually, the wattage is the reason for the name- it takes one tube rectifier to convert ac to dc for a 50 watt amp and two for a 100 watter. Single runs only with silicon diode, don't know bout the bold/spongy but my guess is bold cuz it's fairly tight with a boost.

Sonically they're pretty different beasts though... I went with the single cuz I had zero use for a third channel, and even less use for 100 watts- the walls already shake trying to keep it at a respectable volume. I also honestly feel that the midgain/overdriven settings and cleans on the rectoverb are better than a dual though the dual's orange channel is a wee bit thicker. All depends on your uses y'know? Congrats on the dualie!

My first tube amp was a VHT Pittbull with matching VHT Fat Bottom 412...after years and years of Crate and Peavey solid states, I deserved it. I actually took out a personal loan to finance the fucker. Haha.

The wheat grille is hot. I'd hit that.

And yeah, the singles are bold/diode. There's no rectifier tube in the singles.

okay! I see! So the single is like "Bold-silicon diode" on the 2. ch. on a dual? kinda.. But it still sound just as good, maybe better for somebody?
I was thinking of a single first, but the headroom on the dual + the rectifier setting made me go for the dual! I have a three channel, wich is fine for me, but I've heard the 2 ch. is "better". I dont care, Im happy!

it was my first and last boogie myself. bought it to replace a marshall jcm800. I found out that it was a cool amp for recording and low-volume jamming. Sounded GREAT at home. I bought one for a band I was in and ended up returning it after I went to practice and got drowned out. It squeeled like a pig when I cranked it too. A Line 6 flextone I beat it outta the water with headroom believe it or not.

haha, well there ya go- I'm not a gigging musician and before this my rig was a podxt live into a crate pa system :p. I do find it odd that you'd be drowned out though... I mean, just getting it to the point where it starts to sound good the walls rattled and the neighbor came outside to see what the hell was going on. At half capacity I can feel my guts shake and my hearing gets muffled- what were you competing with?

yeah, I was surprised too; although I was competing with a half deaf bassist that had the hugest bass rig I've ever seen. 10s and 15s all over the place. I couldn't even use a half stack to compete - had to be a full stack. sucked too, cause I loved the tone the mesa had!
