Tons of those sites have applications that will rip a dvd to an avi file. You usually rip to a really huge avi file and a ac3 audio file, then you get another program which compresses the avi down and syncs the audio to the video and makes a much smaller file.

You can (usually have to to fit on cd's) split the file into 2 halfs between songs or something.

Ive done it a whole bunch of times its really easy. just gotta start the process and let it run. It often can take up to 6 hours to just rip the dvd...then another couple to make the compressed avi. Also, best to have about 6GIG worth of free harddrive space to do it too.
