Lyrical phrases that for some reason get to you

Death Cab for Cutie- I Will Follow You into the Dark:

Love of mine, someday you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark

^ I actually prefer What Sarah Said:

And it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time

But I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never lain beside at all

But I'm thinking of what Sarah said that "Love is watching someone die"

Porcupine Tree - The start of something beautiful

The more I show the way I feel, the less I find you give a damn
The more I get to know the less I find that I understand...

Anathema - Inner Silence

When the silence beckons
and the day draws to a close
when light of your life sighs
and love dies in your eyes
only then will I realize what you mean to me?

that's it...

If I could erase one moment of pain
I'd throw away everything, even fame
If I could play God, d'you know what I'd do?
I'd swim through your blood and kill the cancer in you!

...and the wind gently sings
of the lives we have lost
but once we were kings

Hear me, and if I close my mind in fear, please pry me open
See me, and if my face becomes sincere - beware!
Hold me, and when I start to come undone, stitch me together!
See me, and when you see me strut, remind me of what left this outlaw torn

Awaiting word on what's to come
in helpless prayers a hope lives on
As I've come clean, I've forgotten what I promised
In the rays of the sun I am longing for the darkness

Burden is an instant execution, burden upon the backs of the desperate, carry on undertakers,
The message you will false past existence, glowing under of my twisted wind, and with your wind comes your hair in through your hands, a foot on the back of your neck pushing you into a mile of rock and soil
to your prestigious destination

Never will I lie and say I'm still alive
Come what may to me, there's something on my side

Believe me, all my friends, in the ending of the story
There's no junkie out there with a happy ending
It consumes you, and haunts you like the devil
It's the art of the process that kills off all the rebels

This is just a fraction

Turn Loose the Swans (the song) because of what the song is about, or at least what understand it to be about. It is relevant to what has happened in my past and I usually get tears in my eyes when he comes to "you are... sweet".

Back when I was an emo high schooler, I actually paid attention to metal lyrics. I really was a fan of One Last Goodbye by Anathema, Inner Silence by Anathema, and Tonight's Music by Katatonia. They still hold up fairly well as far as those kinds of things go.

"And all I ever taught her was...everything." - Pearl Jam's "Black"

In essence, the whole song kinda got to me, but this one in particular got me just because of the way Eddie Vedder delivered it.

From Arcturus' Shipwrecked Frontier Pioneer:

What once was acrobatically flying
Is now burnt out and dying
Now that I am shipwrecked
A piece of shit falling
Through space and time
Moaning oh why oh why did not I
Just stop in time

..and

I shop some new parts
Re plugged and charged
I head towards the stars
Knowing that this trip
Will be my last slip

Is he singing about heroin? Or is the hero just coasting through life (the space metaphor) realizing he failed at all of his ambitions? Great and underrated song.
