This is likely my favorite Opeth song, off of my favorite album of all time. Here's my question. Mikael sings, "Hangman clutching at his tools/I will come for you." Uhhhhh, what's he talking about there? :Smug: Is it just me? :hypno:

Hangman = executioner (someone who is payed to formally kill people)

So my interpretation is this (from the lyrics you've given, ignoring the conceptual story aspect of the album): The speaker is likening himself to a hangman, and saying that your death will be in his hands.

no no no.....you've all got it wrong. Michael has a secret hidden passion to be a repairman. The word "hangman" is totally irrelevant (satan told me in my sleep), and Mr. Godhead has a sudden urge to grab his "tools" (open to interpretation) and go out and fix something. Just ask Michael - he'll set you straight

how could I forget......Godhead's night of passion with Bob Villa, and subsequent breakup, followed by violent acts of spite, resulting in Bob Villa's death (Godhead killed him with a Black Rose)

To me it always sounded like an empty sort of promise, that he'd get him back somehow. You know, saying "death won't stop me", even though it damn well will.

Well, if I'm not mistaken Melinda is killed in Serenity Painted , so my assumption was that Godhead was saying that he was going to come for her in because he's about to die himself. (The little instrumental epilogue confirms this I believe) Heh my main question is about this hangman clutching at his tools thats what I really can't think of anything other than Godhead wanting to get one last spooge before his neck breaks, hah. The line after just seems to further this idea.
