lyrics that are worth remembering

I just noticed that within the last months there were several parts of lyrics from songs which just pursuited me *g* i couldn't get them out of my head. Like

"The more I learn the less I know for sure"
- Pain of Salvation, Pilgrim

"We shall live forever and cast out those less divine, god's we will be, rulers of the see, in our grand design"
- don't need to mention *g*

"Gather round, chosen people of the grand design"
- see above

"From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen"
- Cat Stevens, Father and Son

do you know this? Which words do follow you?

Hey there

Do you know Kamelot? They have quite cool lyrics too. There's one song I liked the most because of the lyrics, which is called "Don't you cry" . It's written in honor for the father, who died, of the guitar player Thomas Youndblood. When I heard the song for the first time it gave me a weird feeling in my stomach, because it's so emotional and touched me really deep..

something in a completely different direction:

I saw Paul Gilbert's punk band, "Pint Size", last friday, and now I can't get their songs out of my head...

"My fist... your face... I'll be kickin' your ass all over the place"

Though the storm inside me gave me the strength to be a mighty river, I was still not the tide
Zero Hour

The velvet sleep is conviction only fools know
Nevermore

Life is no more assuring than love
Dream Theater

6am just woke up drunk there is a woman by my side
Who is she and where am I and why are my hands tied?
Freak Kitchen

Look at the stars in their multitude, they shine for you and I
Conception

I have a whole bunch of lyrics that I love, but I cannot find it right now. These are just off the top of my head.

We can learn
From the past
But those days
Are gone
We can hope
For the future
But there might not be one

The words stuck in my mind
Alive from what I've learned
I have to seize the day
(Carpe Diem-Dream Theater)

Cherish your life while you're still around
(Dream Theater)

im not gonna type out the whole thing, but also Awakenings by Symphony X. that song really hits me in the right spot. the lyrics are so powerful and im sure everyone has felt that way at least once in their lives, not sure where their life is going and just wanting answers.

I'll agree with Awakenings, that one just gives you those feelings. I also like "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner" by Iron Maiden.

"I've got to keep running the course
I've got to keep running and win at
All costs
I've got to keep going be strong
Must be so determined and push myself on

Run over stiles across fields
Turn to look at who's on your heels
Way ahead of the field
The line is getting nearer but do
You want the glory that goes
You reach the final stretch
Ideals are just a trace
You feel like throwing the race
It's all so futile

Run on and on
Run on and on
The loneliness of the long distance runner"

- part of "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner"
by Iron Maiden

I also liked "Peace Of Mind" by Boston.

Theres probably a bunch more, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

hmm dunno.

i just completed a review of still life by opeth, and although i know this album well already, when i was listening to the music and reading along with the lyrics to get the feeling of the concept, i have to admit i was very stricken by it, so the lyrics for that album as a whole i must say is very touching and leaves a bit of an imprint.

im sure theres alot but i have a short memory and only can think of whats fresh in my head. ill think about it for a while and if i come up with more ill post them.

These lyrics stick in my head for various reasons

'As the congrigation grows, the lung of solitude deflates
To my ears the greatest sin, feel a bit like Beethoven'
Mr Bungle.....infact a great majority of the first Mr Bungle album is a mindfuck....a permenant stain on my psyche.

'He went too far that fucker, its not like i owe him money, this is different'
Katatonia

'Anacondaaaaa...Ride the Snake'
Zimmer's Hole :)

most of the other lyrics i remember are my own that i have to sing backups for.

"Sometimes, a view from sinless eyes centers our perspective and pacifies our cries.
Sometimes, the anguish we survive and the misteries we nurture are the fabrics of our lives."

Dream Theater - Lines in the Sand

"Love is an act of blood and I'm bleeding a pool in the shape of a heart"

Dream Theater - Space-Dye Vest

"Close your eyes and try to remember discordant lullabies of days gone by... close your eyes on the edge of forever: a chance to dream, fast asleep your nightmare ends."

Symphony X - The Edge of Forever

"Endlessly gazing in nocturnal prime, she spoke of her vices and broke the rhyme but baffled herself with the final line: my promise is made, but my heart is thine."

Opeth - Face of Melinda

I can't remember much more, now...

Here some lyrics that influenced my fragile mind:

Guns n' Roses - Welcome to the jungle
"Welcome to the jungle, it gets worse here every day..."

SymphonyX - Through the looking glass
"Dream on... Do you believe... all the things that you're seeing are true?
The start's where the end's leading you Do you believe...all's as twisted as one would perceive? Seek the answers...and soon you'll believe"

Guns n' Roses - Patience
"Shed a tear 'cause I'm missin' you, I'm still alright to smile..."

Aerosmith - Cryin'
"We're partners in crime, You got that certain something..."

Pain of Salvation - Rope ends
"And Winnie is strong, would never let her fall, prevents her from breathing till She's not there at all..."

Dream Theater - Finally free
"As their bodies lie still
And the ending draws near
Spirits rise through the air
All their fears disappear, it all becomes clear
A blinding light comes into view
An old soul exchanged for a new
A familiar voice comes shining through"

There would be more...

Emanuele

Oh, I forgot one, this is from the Sweatpant Boners, called Pee With Your Father.

"When you try to drive home but you hit a pedestrian,
Pee with your father, pee with your father

When your girlfriend tells you she's a lesbian,
Pee with your father, pee with your father

All the boys:
Pee with you father!

All the girls:
Pee with your father!

Everybody:
Pee with your father!"

Thats one touching song, for sure

I enjoy these three-
"Night and day will find a way to keep the balance true
Let the Sky and stars be your guide
The destination is up to you..."
COMMUNION AND THE ORACLE- SYMPHONY X

"I- I will always remember their cries
Like a shadow which covers the light
I will always remember time
But it's past I cannot turn back the time
Don't look back
There's still smoke near the shore
But I'll arrive- revenge be mine"
THE CURSE OF FEANOR- BLIND GUARDIAN

"The words of a banished king- I SWEAR REVENGE!
Filled with anger, aflamed our hearts
Full of hate
Full of pride
We screamed for revenge"
NIGHTFALL- BLIND GUARDIAN

There are a lot of caustic, cynical Megadeth lyrics that I enjoy, but I am into bands with musical talent. Also, I am sure that I will remember some Manowar song that I should have included... oh well

The lyrics to Surrounded by Dream Theater from Images and Words are simply the best set of lyrics I have ever heard. They are really deep and worth interpreting.

Other than that:
"I don't like to save, it's more fun to spend
If you like metal you're my friend" - Manowar

And ALL of Somewhere Out in Space by Gamma Ray
"riding in our space ships, shooting cross the sky,
we explore and we all know what this is about!"

This one deserves to get posted in full size:

Helloween - I Want Out:

From our lives' beginning on
We are pushed in little forms
No one asks us how we like to be
In school they teach you what to think
But everyone says different things
But they're all convinced that
They're the ones to see

Bridge:
So they keep talking and they never stop
And at a certain point you give it up
So the only thing that's left to think is this

Chorus:
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free

People tell me A and B
They tell me how I have to see
Things that I have seen already clear
So they push me then from side to side
They're pushing me from black to white
They're pushing 'til there's nothing more to hear

Bridge:
But don't push me to the maximum
Shut your mouth and take it home
'Cause I decide the way things gonna be

Chorus:
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free

There's a million ways to see the things in life
A million ways to be the fool
In the end of it, none of us is right
Sometimes we need to be alone

(Solo: Kai/Both)

No no no, leave me alone

Chorus:
I want out--to live my life alone
I want out--leave me be
I want out--to do things on my own
I want out--to live my life and to be free

Kai Hansen. 'nuff said.

SyXified, you are a very honorable person for your choice of Manowar. That band kicks almost as much ass as Symphony X. My favourite ManOwaR lyric is as follows:
"They wanna keep us down but they won't last- when we get up we're gonna kick your ass!
Keep on burning, we always will
Other bands play- MANOWAR KILL!"

Sometimes there's nothing like the bombastic chorus from Blind Guardian's And Then There Was Silence:

And then there was silence
Just a voice from the otherworld
Like a leaf in an icy world
Memories will fade

When it hits you, it hits you.

That´s not the chorus, but definitely one of the finest lines from the song. The chorus is the LONG "Misty tales and poems lost" part.
