m-audio profire2626. What's ur rate?

awesome...

great sound, sturdy build quality,

and I had an extra 8 preamps streaming through the adat and it works without a hitch..

I use it with reaper..

It also has vista 64 drivers and install and works without a hitch...with a texas Intstruments firewire card....my generic on board firewire was terrible with it though....

eventually I might try PT8 with it...

I have one. I prefer M-Powered to LE because of this interface.

I've used the 2626 on OS X with PT, Ableton Live, Garageband, and Reaper.

It really kicks ass. PT compatible, quality A/D D/A, 26 inputs, etc.

Expecially because PT 8 LE and M are exactly the same thing

Generally speaking, yes. One of the differences I can immediately point out off the top of my head is that with the toolkits you can only use one with M-Powered, only LE has the option to combine the two toolkits to get the most tracks.

M-Powered doesn't work with the DV toolkit (now called DV toolkit 2, also included in CPTK) so that's a deal-breaker if you're doing post work and need timecode.

One other distinction: M-Powered does not include POW-R Dither.

These things matter not to me.

You're right..but if I have to spend 1500€ for a complete toolkit, I switch to hd1.

I just called Sweetwater about getting ProTools 8 M-Powered (since I'm planning to get the Profire 2626) and we wound up talking about a few things. First of all, the dude said that M-Powered is not a "real" version of ProTools. He said it doesn't run on the same DAE engine. So it's like the interface of ProTools, but not the same engine as LE/HD. I have no idea if this is true. Can anyone shed some light?

He also said the preamps in the 003 are superior to the preamps in the Profire 2626.

I have no idea what to get anymore.

Hmm, both of those claims (M Powered not being the same engine and the 003 preamps being better) seem suspect to me, though I have nothing to back it up (except that the 002 preamps are notorious for being some of the worst ever in an interface of that price! :ill: )
