All going well, I may pickup one of these units based on recommendations here and good reviews elsewhere.
What I was wandering though is if anyone could post links to recordings where the 400F was used for main overdubbs.
I'm sure the unit is great, but I would like to hear it's capabilities before parting with the hard earned, just to make sure I'm looking at the right product.
All other features of the 400F are in line with what I require.
If an upload is too much, feel free to express/ explain what you feel of the sound quality.

Thanks guys.

There are a few tunes on my Soundclick page are my 400F with the built in preamps..

Unnamed New Song - direct recorded w/impulse
There Were People Here w/vocals - SM57 on an Orange cab, also the vocals were into the 400F recorded with a SM58

What Was Green - SM57 on an Orange cab

They are very clear and even sounding pres. No obvious coloration, which is what I would think most people want from a built in pre. Very quiet as well - I've had the gain up pretty high and I still didn't pick up any noise from them.

Temps, do the pre's actually have pads on them? I saw the labeling on the gain knobs themselves with -20db wrote when at 7'oclock position (off) so is it built into the gain control or...is there no pads :P

No pads, just the gain control on this thing. There are two separate scales on the knobs. Using a mic, with the gain all the way down it is unity to +60dB.. using a line level signal it goes from -20dB to +40dB

Cool. Thanks mate.

I think the amount of interest coupled with the recommendation and reviews of the 400F should be enough for all of us to go ahead with it haha.
