I saw one of these on Ebay today and it looked pretty fukin bad ass so i decided to check it out and see what it offered.

Well let me say this the clips i heard of it were pretty friggin sick ...I love the tone ...

im wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them, and if so do you like it ?

Heres a clip of some band that supposedly used it http://madisonamps.com/products/guitar/divsoundbytes/themandrake/The%20Mandrake%20-%20Sitcom%20Revolution.wma

I like the tone alot .... whats your opinion ?

i guess alot of people have had reliability problems with em. i got some pretty sick tones from one and me 5150 on the autumn offering record i did back in february. the amp never gave me any problems. that being said they have a pretty bad rap unfortuanately, but i gave the tone a thumbs up.

You got any audio clips from the sessions ?

I would like to hear some results OUTSIDE the manufactureres website. I mean for $400 on ebay even if the amp falls apart in 4 years its no big deal. $400 is a drop in the hat in the world of tube amps.

I heard them at NAMM and wasn't impressed at all. Not bad, but definitely not the botique amp they try to make themselves out to be. They look cheesy as hell too.

They could probably sound decent in a recording if blended with a 5150, Mesa, etc. though.

I produced and engineered the Mandrake clip you linked. The project was only about 5 days so we were kinda rushed but I'll try and remember some of the details. The owner of Madiaon Amps is in the band along with his "right hand man" kinda dude. We used Madison Divinity heads and Madison cabs loaded with Eminence "Private Jacks".

Guitars were 2 tracks of a Jackson with Invaders and 2 with EMG81s. All guitars through a Maxon 808. Single miced with 57s I think, might have benn an i5.

The Divinities come stock with EL34s but the one we used had 6l6s with out being re-biased. You would think 6l6s biased that hot wouldn't last a day but he's had the same tubes in there for 2 years. Sounded good and that's all that matters i guess. The deal with Madisons is there always fucking with them so you could get one that sounds totally different.

I think that production came out a little thin and the guitars can get a little scratchy but it's a nice ultra tight tone if you dig that style.

Here's another reference for the Divinity. Much shorter project, full length in only 3 days so it's pretty rough around the edges. Again, Maxon 808 into a stock head with ruby EL34s. Don't remember the specs on the guitar. Cab was my Mesa traditional.

I cant speak for that head except that a friend has an endorsement and he loves it.
I CAN say that the people at Madison very responsive, if you ever have an issue they take care of it right away. And I have two 15 inch madison PA cabs that are extremely well built and rule ass

Yeah - it wasn't like it was inplace of solder - they just duct taped some wires together and then to a PCB board to keep them from bouncing around, as opposed say... gluing them down, or using proper length wires?
