IRON MAIDEN Announces North American Tour Dates - July 24, 2006

IRON MAIDEN has announced that they will be beginning their 2006 World Tour with eight dates across the USA and three dates in Canada starting October 4 in Hartford, CT.

Tickets for the shows will start going on to the general public from the weekend of August 12, with details of local box office and on-sale times at www.ironmaiden.com. IRON MAIDEN has also arranged for a special fan club pre-order for all shows beginning August 1 and running through to the public on-sale date. Details of this will be sent directly to them beforehand.

This follows the recent announcement that their highly anticipated new studio album "A Matter of Life and Death" will be released on September 5 on Sanctuary Records.

Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson: "This is the first time we've started a tour in the States for many, many years. It's going to be great to get out there so the fans can get to hear the new material and see the new show first for a change. We're all incredibly pleased with the album, and the tremendous response of those people who have had the chance to hear it so far. Their reaction has been phenomenal and we expect to play a lot of it on tour.

"We will be bringing the full show to America, which we are currently putting the final touches to, and we fully intend to make it as spectacular and memorable as we can. And of course, our mate Eddie has already booked a place on the plane with us."

On the topic of "A Matter of Life and Death", Bruce comments, "This album has to be our best since working with Kevin Shirley (producer). There is such a wide scope of musicianship on this album. Every one of us has put everything into this record and it's really paid off."

The upcoming North American dates represent the beginning of the "A Matter of Life and Death World Tour", which will continue into Japan and then travel through to Europe, finishing with two shows at London's Earls Court Arena just before Christmas. All the shows on the European leg have been on sale since March and reaction to the dates has been incredible, with the majority of shows already sold out months in advance.

Accompanying IRON MAIDEN on the USA tour (excluding the Hartford and Los Angeles ) are new U.K. metal sensation, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, who have been receiving rave reviews while on tour with GUNS N' ROSES throughout Europe.

Holy Shit! I am all flustered on a Monday morning! :Smokin: I thought we would get to see them at the beginning of 07... holy Eddie! :headbang:

:kickass: :headbang: :worship: :Smokin: Can't ask for a better birthday present than that!!! Freakin' Sweet! Dion is coming down, no word yet from Dan & Robert, is Chris gonna come out here for the L.A. show? The more metalkids the merrier!!! SCREAM FOR ME IRVINE!!!

I knew they wouldn't come anywhere near the south, but was hoping they would come close enough for a road trip. Oh well, nothing close enough for me to travel to see'em.

I certainly understand their new touring policy....quick little jaunts. But, well, that's just not enough. If they'd hit, say, 15 major cities across the US they'd give all their fans a chance to see them with at least a little effort. I live in San Francisco, so the Irvine date is not impossible, or wouldn't be if hadn't already kinda budgeted for some other stuff. That's life I suppose.

Ian Anderson w/orchestra is performing in the NY area this October. I just found out! I have to check to see if tix are still available!!! :erk:

Not sure if I'll hit the NJ show yet. My only reservation would unfortunately be their setlist. The more they knock the old stuff out of the set, the less interested I am in going...regardless of how the new album is. I may go to Gigantour 2 weeks earlier instead.

I'm really interested in how these tickets will sell, being that these are big arenas again.....

Yeah, he was just here, or is just about to come....I forget. I seriously considered it, but having seen Tull recently I opted out, but really for the most part because I tend to spend too much on tickets, and so have to be selective from time to time. I've got tickets for Tool, Queensryche, and Celtic Frost, and Venom right now, so that'll have to do for awhile. Still, I'm keenly interested in the orchestral Tull. I know the girl who was with them (violin) when I saw them in England will be there, and the combination of her with Ian will be fantastic. She's kind of a heavy metal violinist if you will. They did a cover of Kashmir that was bitchin' (and will surely do it when you see them). She mixed in well with Jethro Tull, and probably played on about 50% or 60% of the set. Anyway, I'm holding out for a Tull tour of the states.....

I don't think they have been to Florida since I moved here.:erk:

I think the last time they played anywhere in FL. was the X Factor tour. They pretty much played at least one show, usually more, in FL. from the Beast tour thru X Factor tour. Locally, they played Lakeland Civic Center a few times and the Sundome in Tampa a couple of times.

I'll probably go to this even if I'll have to sit through a really shitty set by Bullet for my valentine :( Seriously, they should add any band remotly close to heavy metal or thrash instead of adding gay metalcore bands. Goat Horn would have ruled on that bill, it's not like Iron Maiden need a super huge band playing with them to drag people out...

I think Dan and Robert... it is safe to say are a given... they are always there

Perhaps we get Chris down here as well... IT'S GONNA BE WICKEDDDD! :kickass:

August 2003. Judging by the roster that I've seen on the marquee for Irvine Meadows this season, apart from Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Maiden is going to be the only thing worth seeing.

By the way, for those in the area, stay away from the I-405 on August 1st. Kelly Clarkson is going to be playing Irvine and I'm pretty sure the show is well sold out and will result in a complete clusterfuck with southbound traffic from all the teeny boppers and their parents going to the show and exiting at Irvine Center Dr.

You're right..2003. Just seems like much longer for some reason.

Sure, we can meet up for a cold one before the gig.

A tip for seeing shows at Irvine: Park in the business complex across the street. There's only one way out of Irvine's lot and it can be a major pain in the ass getting out of there. A 5 minute walk can save you an hour of sitting in your car.

Warning:

Parking in the parking lots across the street may result in your vehicle being towed by the property management as you are trespassing on private property.

Also, for shows at Irvine Meadows this season, Irvine Police Department has been making the streets in the area "No Parking" zones for the dates and times of the shows occuring across the street at the amphitheatre. Those cars parked across the street have been being ticketed and towed away at the owner's expense.

Check back the week of the show and I'll advise if parking across the street will still be available.
