IRON MAIDEN Announces North American Tour Dates - July 24, 2006

IRON MAIDEN has announced that they will be beginning their 2006 World Tour with eight dates across the USA and three dates in Canada starting October 4 in Hartford, CT.

Tickets for the shows will start going on to the general public from the weekend of August 12, with details of local box office and on-sale times at www.ironmaiden.com. IRON MAIDEN has also arranged for a special fan club pre-order for all shows beginning August 1 and running through to the public on-sale date. Details of this will be sent directly to them beforehand.

This follows the recent announcement that their highly anticipated new studio album "A Matter of Life and Death" will be released on September 5 on Sanctuary Records.

Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson: "This is the first time we've started a tour in the States for many, many years. It's going to be great to get out there so the fans can get to hear the new material and see the new show first for a change. We're all incredibly pleased with the album, and the tremendous response of those people who have had the chance to hear it so far. Their reaction has been phenomenal and we expect to play a lot of it on tour.

"We will be bringing the full show to America, which we are currently putting the final touches to, and we fully intend to make it as spectacular and memorable as we can. And of course, our mate Eddie has already booked a place on the plane with us."

On the topic of "A Matter of Life and Death", Bruce comments, "This album has to be our best since working with Kevin Shirley (producer). There is such a wide scope of musicianship on this album. Every one of us has put everything into this record and it's really paid off."

The upcoming North American dates represent the beginning of the "A Matter of Life and Death World Tour", which will continue into Japan and then travel through to Europe, finishing with two shows at London's Earls Court Arena just before Christmas. All the shows on the European leg have been on sale since March and reaction to the dates has been incredible, with the majority of shows already sold out months in advance.

Accompanying IRON MAIDEN on the USA tour (excluding the Hartford and Los Angeles ) are new U.K. metal sensation, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, who have been receiving rave reviews while on tour with GUNS N' ROSES throughout Europe.

Flustered on a Monday morning...:Smokin: This is great news! Oct 21 please come soon! Anyone else thinking of going to any of the shows?

October 18 for me!!!!
Not that the opening band matters much since it is Maiden, but with all the power metal hype, I was hoping for something a LOT better than Bullet For My Valentine (not that I have heard them, but from what I have read about them, it isn't very positive).

Same management & a new record deal with Sony. Shocking pairing based on that eh?

Well that makes sense then. I don't know much about Bullet or what label they are on. Didn't Rob Zombie kick them off tour a few months back?

Oct. 13 - Continental Airlines Arena - East Rutherford, NJ

The Maiden date conflicts with the "Power" night of BW & BK. This has to thrill the promoters. I have to imagine they were hoping to draw from the densely populated NY/NJ area.

Shocking? No. Disappointing? Yes. It would be nice to see someone in Maiden's position pass the torch. I could see it if they needed BfmV to sell tickets, but they don't.

You honestly believe that adding BFMV would actually put a butt in a seat?

How many of you hear have listened to BFMV's album? Just wondering if its a 'they got press from such and such, were on tour such and such, therefore I hate them,' or its a 'i've listened to their albums, and they aren't my thing.'

Yeah, would have been cool of Iron Maiden went around with a group like Iced Earth or something, but they aren't...

Its not like BFMV is some crap band that can't play an instrument. Though I can understand people not liking their somewhat 'hardcore-emo' approach to metal.

The show I've been most anticipating has arrived.... October 21st can't come soon enough!!!!!!!
Up The Irons!!!!!

Look below......
If it looks like sh*t, then most likely it is!!

J/K. Seriously though you can tell a lot from a promo photo and this screams HOT TOPIC, whether you agree or not.

Furthermore, these guys aren't even listed on Metal Archives (and they allow Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God, so there you go....)

Heh... there are good reasons not to be into them. I'm not into them myself. But wearing baggy pants and not being on Metal Archives are hardly reasons to not like them. o_O
