After 30 years of playing the very best Heavy Metal around, you'd think Manilla Road would finally slow up and write a bad album by now, right? After all these years they have yet to write something bad! And on top of not writing anything bad, Manilla Road always trys to re-invent themselves with every album they create. This album is no different. Seriously, when you hear this, you'll think Mark "The Shark" has written his thick-est and fat-est riffs to date. I mean really, this stuff sounds like Candlemass trying to write a Manilla Road album, or for you know-it-all Manilla Road fans, this is more along the lines of "Hammer Of The Witches" type riff oriented songs throughout the whole album. I’m completely surprised with the direction of this album. I wouldn’t call it a Doom Metal album, but it has some really Doom-y and off-the-wall moments. In the end, it sounds like Manilla Road.

1. Jackhammer
2. Into The Maelström
3. Playground Of The Damned
4. Grindhouse
5. Abattoir De La Mort
6. Fire Of Asshurbanipal
7. Brethren Of The Hammer
8. Art Of War

I loved it. It has a strong doom sound to it, tons of awesome riffs and solos, bass and drums were great, Art of War was a great way to close off the album. Gonna have to listen to it more though before I have a strong opinion on it.

you can buy it from SKR, but you've got to buy two items from them. i havent been able to find it anywhere else.

I bought the red vinyl from High Roller, but that wasn't the cd copy, plus shipping was quite a bit but it was worth it. So far it's my aoty, and I have to say it's probably my second favorite Manilla Road album since they reformed(Spiral Castle is my favorite)

I don't see how anyone who likes old school heavy metal wouldn't like Manilla Road, especially if they also like old thrash and power metal. Mark Shelton is an excellent and really versatile vocalist, although his singing on many songs isn't as immediately accessible as someone like Bruce Dickinson. As far as instrumentalists go, they also outpace most other bands and they have songs covering a lot of different territory.

I haven't heard any of the newer albums, but the songs that I heard from them were all excellent.
