Marshall Cab Question

G'noon,

I've just been offered a Marshall 4x12 for stupid money - only problem is it's a beat up and the guy selling it can't tell me what model it is and won't take the back off to check what the drivers are. I've got the serial number, but I don't know if that's any help. Any suggestions on how to tell what model it is? The quicker the reply the better!

and he CANT take it off, otherwise he wouldnt be selling it
as the only reason he is selling it is to get out of the cab
as he was hiding from the mafia as he didnt pay his protection money
and realised he couldnt get out again
and he phoned the police and they didnt believe him and wanted to sell the cab anyway so he thought "hit two birds with one stone"

Probly cheap cab and jank speakers. Id just save your money and buy one you know is good!!

Think about it though. If it is a pretty old cab, it's gonna have some bitchin speaks in it. The only risk is if he swapped em out, and you get rocket 50s
The cheapo valvestate cabs, or whatever they're called nowadays, are smaller than the normal 4x12. I wouldn't bother with one of those.
If the price is right though, fuck whatever's in there. and for a few hun, you could put v30s in. If you don't buy it, we'll never know what was in that cab. buy it, buy it, buy it...

I think this is where you tell the guy no ones gonna buy it if they dont actually know what it specifically is. Its like me saying do you wanna buy a car, its a ford. No I cant tell you which one.
Tell him youve got cash waiting if its the one you want all hes gotta do is find out

Haha, yeah it's dodgy as fuck, but it's a 4x12 for £25 - I don't really care if it DOES have a body in it, that's just more shit for my money I was just wondering if there was an easy way to tell so I could be smug when I handed the money over...

I really doubt it's got a body in/is stolen, it's just some guy that has a seriously beat up cab and knows nothign about his gear. It has no model number because there's no grill and the plate with the connections is covered in paint.

I would take it. It kind fucked that he can't find a screwdriver to take the back off though. But for 25 I would be all over it.
