Martin Lopez on ign.com

We all know that Martin Lopez is a great drummer already, but good that there's a journalist who thinks so too.

:( I thought this was going to be a thread with news about Lopez.

Good to see Martin Lopez getting some credit.
He was the main reason why I started liking Opeth. I wasn't into the growls at that time but his double bass beats on Deliverence were the most impressive things I ever heard at the time. Little did I know then that was just the scratch on the surface of his amazing abilities.

On a side note.

Saw Opeth last week in Edmonton, and I gotta say that Axe did an amazing job playing a lot of the older tunes. I was really impressed.

I really hope Axe sticks around and can leave his mark on this great band, like his predecessor left a mark on not only the band but all of our hearts as well.

Just curious...does anyone know how Lopez is doing? It was really sad to see him on the Ghost Reveries DVD, he was obviously not doing well at the time. I certainly hope that he is doing a lot better. The guy is an absolutely brilliant drummer. I wonder if Mikael or Mendez keep in touch with him at all.
