Math Rock?

7/8, 8/8, and 9/8 aren't odd time.... more like uncommon time if anything. The only part on that album that is truly odd time are the high hat rolls that start right after the bass-strumming interlude. Tool aren't a really good example of complex music, IMO. By the way, has anyone heard the emo-indie band Choke while we're on that subject? I heard em about half a year to a year ago, really complicated stuff. Really horrid emo-vocals, too!


edit: I meant the bass strumming interlude in the title track of the album.

how can you say that? every song has so much polyrhythms and odd feels, if not always odd time signatures. i guess i have the wrong impression of "math rock", but they're still definetely complex. also, i read in some article that they were "math rock", so that's probably the only reason I thought of them.
