Too bad 14,999 of them were disappointed with the album. Not to mention, Evergrey isn't an arena band. Evergrey doesn't have a Silent Lucidity. Queensryche has gone from an arena band, to a cabaret show, because it's the only way they can get people in the seats for anything new. Well, that and touring Mindcrime 1234234234 times.

Compare a band with gold and platinum records to one who has toured the US 3 times. Makes perfect sense.
I'm not even sure how you can even logically make that comparison after reading my thread about EG's sales. It's like you clicked the link, read that I explicitly said 1,000 units first-week is only good because they're not an American band that is on a label that just got out of major insolvency issues, and has toured the US 3 times in 10 years and ignored it just to get your own point in.
Queensryche has sold millions of albums prior to their last pile of crap. However my argument is that after Empire's sales, they could've released whatever they wanted and they'd still have people buying it, like Metallica, because when you have millions of fans like that it's pretty hard to shake them off. This is simply objective truth. However, I (and alot of other people, especially fans of the band's older output) personally feel that everything after Empire is a really hard attempt to sell out to the alt rock crowd that didn't go as planned. They never topped Empire's success and there was no major radio hit that came from the shit they were doing.

So everything is defined by radio hits now?
You are the first person I have ever seen make the "sell out to the alt rock crowd" comment. All of their CD's are stylistically different, including their early discs. But that does not support your alt rock claims.

We can chalk this up to another moron on this board who has no clue what they are talking about. I love early Queensryche, but this shitfest they are putting out now, and have been putting out for some time, is just that. Shit.
The comparison between Evergrey and Queensryche was beyond ridiculous and I can't honestly comprehend why he would have made it. It's like saying that Metallica's St. Anger was so much better than Warbringer's War Without End, because it sold a small fraction of the amount that it did. It's flawed, one sided logic. Something that is seen too much around here.

Indeed! Loved Queensryche since buying The Warning back in 1984. Always respected the fact they didn't make Mindcrime 2 in 1990. Or, Empire 2 in 1994.

Anyways, that joke doesn't really make sense on your part because nobody thinks Asia is cool (hence the "you know why you're gay? Because you listen to Asia" reference from The 40 Year Old Virgin that I use to jokingly make fun of you), but alot of people are into djent. Guess you haven't really looked hard enough. If you type "Queensryche sold out" or Queensryche "sell out" into Google you get a pretty sizable response from fans. In fact, the bassist from White Wizzard wrote an article about how even Empire was a sell-out record for Queensrcyhe.
And for the record, it's not something I care about personally. I believe The Arcade Fire is one of the biggest-sell-out acts since Metallica but I still love them. I just feel like Queensryche sold out to become a more commercial mainstream band while completely ditching everything that made them cool and their new style didn't fit them at all. Having those big 90's radio rock productions, riffs, etc with Geoff Tate's falsetto 80's metal voice is like orange juice and vinegar.
You ramble on like your opinion is "the cold hard truth" and then call people names when they disagree. Where is the logic in that?

So, you know which bands are "trying to go platinum" and which aren't? Interesting.
Anytime a band changes their style there will be people who whine about "selling out." I won't bore you with examples. Some fans will stay with the band and some won't. Not all bands are going to be like AC/DC and play the same exact style for their entire career. If I am a fan of a band why would I care if there are those that think they sold out? Why would I care what the bassist for White Wizzard has to say on the topic? I remember people complaining about The Warning, Rage For Order and Mindcrime when they were released because they weren't "like" the previous disc.
And if you don't care personally, why are you spending so much time on the topic?

Yes I do. A band that came off a platinum record would more than likely try to go platinum again due to higher standards from the label, etc. When a band goes platinum, it also allows for the label to push the band harder in the hopes that it can continue that success. I mean really now, c'mon.
This has nothing to do with what I am talking about. I don't care about other bands, I'm talking about Queensryche.
Again, this is completely separate from what I am talking about. I never said you couldn't enjoy post-Empire Queensryche, but what I am saying is that there is quite alot of criticism against the band for changing their sound to seemingly gain large commercial success. Nor was I saying that fan-criticism against Queensryche is exclusive to post-Empire output or even to Queensryche alone.
Tenth Dreamer Deciever said the only reason why people complain about Queensryche's post-Empire era is because those CDs weren't progressive enough. I disagreed that critics disliked that era of the band because they feel it's selloutish and doesn't work compared to the band's earlier output. This is true, because you can find a large library of complaints against the band for that reason all over the internet whether you like it or not. The fact that this forum seems to share that same opinion is also testimony to my hypothesis. Deal with it and drop the butthurt man. I never said you couldn't like the band or whatever. It's music and we can listen to whatever we want.

I said I don't care about bands selling out, not the topic at large. And it's true, hence my Arcade Fire example. I do think the topic at large is worth posting about, hence my posting about it.
