Wha?! You think >30% is ridiculous? 15% is ridiculous, in Denmark we pay between 40 and 70% depending on your income. And I'd dare say Denmark is much more preferable over the US. Okay sorry lets not get into that >:

I think £1000 per month to live in Sweden and bing up a family is very very low, im sure this is part of the reason Peter left, that maount of money is ok if you live on your own in a flat or at home with parents but otherwise very little for a morgage bills food clothes ect. Im sure merchandise helps greatly and royalty payments will help the the songwriter and singer ie Mike so he will always benifit more from his efforts.
They will be given thier amps and instruments where opeth hold sponsorship deals ie PRS Laney the drummer has a sponsorship deal so the equipment doesnt represent wealth.
I was appalled at thier wages no wonder Mike has to fix his roof himself, i wish that they all make significantly more money after all they are great artists and sucessful within thier field. I hope they do earn enough for a comfortable life.
However im not so sure seeing Opeth in a stadium will be as good as a smaller venue but i think one day Stadiums may be thier more regular size gig, and by then the concert money and merch money will be good.

thats retarded, i mean in canada tax is 15% for anything under 36,000, which isnt so bad considering we have free health care, i believe its higher for higher wages, and i figure 1000 pounds a month to be about 30,000$ a year, its low but its not poverty(at least if he lived here0 i mean last summer i was making 1500$ a month, so it might be the same if mikael has to pay the same amount in pounds as i do in $(ie 1$ for a chocolate bar here and 1 pound for one in sweden)

i sincerely doubt mikael was able to afford his 1000s of vinyl's with a 1000 pound a month income. that figure has got to be a set payment for bands on the roster not including any extras like sales etc.
Why do you guys have the idea that Americans pay 15%???? We have a sliding scale too, those at the top making the most pay out at 37%, give or take 1%.
People who make less than 35 grand or so PAY NO TAXES. They get it all back in a refund check unless they are too lazy to file their income taxes in which case they lose it all.
The wealthier you are the more taxes you pay, it's that simple. My wife and I are close to the 119,000 (combined) a year tax bracket and we'd be better off staying just below it than to get a small raise and go above it.
When politicians say we should raise taxes for the rich, they include me in that category and I can assure you I am the furthest thing from rich (I'm a teacher for god's sake).
At any rate, our taxes are sure to go through the roof since I'm quite confident that either Obama or Hillary will be elected. I'm not saying there's some great alternative, but that woman scares the shit out of me.

theres no way mikael makes 1000 a month, plain and simple. that figure probably increases as CD sales do, and of course we're not even considering the money they make on tour (almost filling houses completely), or merchandise or whatever.

For starters, I assume that the cost of living in Arkansas is considerably less than, say, New York.
True, rent for our house costs about 600 a month, and that's with 4 bedrooms, and we really have no problem with paying bills or anything like that.
fvck that.....im movin to Arkansas....hahaha....!!!...i live in Austin TX....in a 700sq. 1 bed/bath apartment....and I pay $900...!!!!.....PEAC EOUT
