Lately I've been getting more into melodic death metal, we all know At The Gates, In Flames and Dark Tranquility. I was wondering if there were some lesser known bands you guys like that I may have passed up that you might want to recommend. Video recommendations are more than welcome. Thanks!

I guess you know about Soilwork, Amon Amarth and Scar Symmetry allready ;)
+1 to Insomnium, one of the best bands in general

Mercenary are somewhat melodeath related imo

albums are quite different though, and they also aren't clearly a genre 100%

Disarmonia Mundi if you like Soilwork

Eluveitie if you don't mind folk with melodeath

Pretty cool austrian melodeath imo

Also: My band maybe isn't that typical melodeath, but it's close enough for me...that song in specific

Melodeath is a pretty broad genre imo
Lots of bands that sound different but have something in common in some way

(Yes, it's partially shameless self promo - get over it). The Orpheus record, even with my bias, I can say has been one of my fave melodeath CDs in many years.

Well ...

1st the obvious ... Amon Amarth

Maybe not so obvious ... Edge Of Sanity

perhaps you'll like my band then:

www.facebook.com/rarefactionmetal

the songs on there are just Demos/prepro, the CD will be released early next year (hopefully)

To me Nocturnal is the only album which has reached anywhere near the standard set by The Jester Race/Slaughter Of The Soul.
It's a fucking fantastic record.

Not strictly melodeath, but still death metal that is melodic as fuck.

It's a great album, I agree, but it definitely isn't melodic death metal. More metal/deathcore.

I wouldn't say so at all.
Whilst I can understand why people say that, I can hear -core influence in some of their rhythms (say, the intro to "What A Horrible Night...").
The influence of At The Gates/In Flames/Dissection is far more prevalent, and important to their sound, at least to my ears.

I would greatly appreciate it if you checked out my band Mendacity. Link is in my sig.
Here are my recommendations. Enjoy!
