melodic metal/hardcore content, critique is most welcome

This is a song that a friend of mine and user on this forum, MisSigsFan, wrote and recorded for his band Recollections (look 'em up on the facebox), and he recently gave me the files to play with it.

The guitars are a bit heavy in the low-mids and I don't know how to feel about the lead guitar. Any critique/comment/whatever is welcome. Thanks for your time and thanks to MisSigsFan for the files.

yea man i agree the low mids in the guitars just need some multiband comp, just seems like the guitars are kinda masking stuff a bit the comp on the low mids would def help

Thanks, I've already got a multiband comp on the master, I'll set it up to tame some more of the low mids.

Here's my real problem with the mix: it lacks that professional energy and 'smash'. I'm already pushing everything as loud as it will go without clipping in my master chain, but I just don't know what to do to get it there.
