I know the guys from Mendeed personally. :D

I've had a chat with Nickson (guitarist) about sweep picking and Jason Becker in a club just before they played. The drummer was also sitting a few meters away and I asked him for a copy of their demo after but they didn't have any at the time, I have it now though. I also went to watch them at Download.

I don't really like them much anymore but I loved them back then. There were some pretty amazing guitar solos played at Download.

Also, my best friend at college talks with Steve on MSN when he's not touring.
 
ItI agree with Epi: Absolutely cool guitar tones, but not my cup of tea. Anyway, I will watch them at Wacken this year.

EDIT: If they would throw the clean vocals away (or minimize the amount), I probably would buy the album.
 
A little bit of defense for this band. I don't care if people don't like them or not, and I understand why a lot of people wouldn't. But just a few things that should be said.

Some of you were saying that bands need to drop the whole reaper thing...
Mendeed only have one song that has anything to do with a reaper, and that's the song "The Reaper Waits". Just because that song was on their myspace doesn't mean that they are following the whole bodom reaper trend. :P

As for them being metalcore, they are metalcore. Their older albums were very metalcore with lots of breakdowns, but their new one which I don't think is even released yet, but a few of the songs are up on myspace, is more melodic death metal then metalcore. If you heard this band before and only heard stuff off of the early albums, give them another chance because the new shit is completely different. I hate the old albums, but love the new one.
 
1) Good music is not defined by genre. Metalcore can be good and if you bash if just cause you think it's cool to do so, then fuck you, you poser bitch :)

You don't have to like it, but I don't see the need to label the whole genre as shit. There's good metalcore/nu metal bands out there.

2) I find this band to be ok. They're the only metal band to ever been signed from Scotland or something as I understand. Musically they're more interesting to me but the vocals are a bit weak. I mean he does them well, it's just they're very reminiscent of a lesser version of Alexi nowadays. I'm not really a fan. Also, I really can't stand the emo backing vocals. That's just me.

I think the vocalist from ROH is much, much better.

You say that people who bash on a whole genre of music are posers, and then you say that you can't stand emo backing vocals, meaning that everyone that does the emo backing vocals suck. Metalcore is pretty much defined by the screaming/emo vocals.

But this whole argument is just soo silly, people posting myspace bands and people bashing them. Some get offended or whatnot. It's not anyone's place to try to defend a band. If a person doesn't like it, he doesn't like it.

Yeh, I agree, but some people are cunts about it. You don't have to like the band, or keep your critcisms to yourself, but some people here are just fucking douchebags and have nothing postive to say (about anything unelss it's about themselves)... they just shit all over anyone whenever they say soemthing or psot something new.

I'm starting to get fed up with it, I mean I have been for a while this is just a good opportunity to state that fact.

I really don't care who likes them or not:lol:
But people here were like trying to think up a reason to dislike them. Blaming the reaper image/metalcore. It's more of a trend these days to hate metalcore and shit on it then to like it. Remember that.

I agree with Joe on pretty much everything here. There are some good metalcore bands, there are some bad metalcore bands. People just think its the cool thing to do to say it all sucks without giving anything a chance.

People can like more then one genre of music you know. Hell, I like Eminem's early albums. And I don't give a fuck who shits on me for that. I like what I like, and give everything a chance without going OMG THAT GENRE OF MUSIC IS GAY.
