Mendez/lopez career before opeth

I think that Lopez moved to Sweden after getting the job as the drummer for Opeth and Mendez went with him. After the release of Still Life Lopez mentioned that he knew someone that was a good bassist. This person was Mendez. He was invited into the band after an audition. RIght?

Uruguay is in South America, not Spain. THe only similarity is that they speak spanish and that Spain used to govern parts of South America. They aren't genetically related nations, from what I know.

Like I said before, Lopez was born in sweden, and then moved to Uruguay and back to sweden. He also first played on Amon Amarth's first album before joining Opeth.
