Mercenary- The Hours That Remain

Agree completely. That's why I commented that Bear will love it, as he's an unabashed Soilwork fanboy.

Yep that I am, can't wait to hear the next incarnation of Soliwork too!!!

I dont think that the new Mercenary sounds like Soilwork though, it sounds like Mercenary and its pretty freaking killer.

hey everybody.
Thanks for the initial thouhts on THTR.
Please be patient guys and girls.
Only a month and a half to go :headbang:

Get some damned samples up on your website! Month and a half for new Mercenary.. Please be patient.. Must.. wait... for.. CD....

I did cheat a little and found the artwork, and am truely shocked no one's talked about it. It's fucking AWESOME. :kickass:

Pretty good album. Glenn is right when he says their guitar sound is great. Very heavy sound. I'm not a fan of the screaming type vocals without Kral. And I think the keyboard/orchestral parts on this album aren't as present as they were on 11 Dreams. I like the album a lot, but I think it loses some of the epic feel present on 11 Dreams.

Downloading isn't a question of morals or patience. It only becomes a question of morals if you don't buy the MP3s you like. Doing that is tantamount to stealing. As for patience, it's not a matter of waiting until the release date. I refuse to buy CDs blind. It's a sucker's bet. Given that I have no use for 90% of what I download, if I had purchased all those CDs blind, I'd be out a fortune. As it is, I buy in the neighborhood of a 100 CDs a year. So I have no moral dilemma about downloading.

I agree about 100 percent. I think I am more than fair when it comes to buying things I've liked when it comes to mp3's. It looks like I'll purchase between 75-100 discs this year myself .... a lot of which are things I wouldn't have bought unless I was made aware of them thru mp3's.

Bah, Zod, I was being sarcastic. I don't mind if people download and buy. Myself, if there's a band I like, I buy CD's blindly by them until they start putting out shit I don't care for anymore, then I'll sample before I buy. There's just something about buying that CD on release day... and giving it your full, undevided attention in the sound and in the artwork/reading/lyrics for that first spin.. listening to it before hand really kills that kind of magic.

The special experience for me is listening to the music at a high bit rate with super awesome headphones or in a kick ass car stereo system. Most songs you download online from advance copies have annoying interjections "promotional copy, buy it on 20/23/20 or whatever the date is" and are usually uploaded at shitty bit rates. When I buy a new CD, I can get the super quality sound--so there's that special motivation, at least in my case.

In the case of DVDs, you definately can't find proper quality shit on YouTube. Ever. No choice but to buy in that case.

I can't wait for this new album. I can't find it online anyway...so I'm waiting till August.

You actually couldn't be more wrong. 99% of what is posted has no voiceovers, and is ripped somewhere between 192Kbps and VBR.

Keep something else in mind; I don't post MP3s on the net. Since I don't trust that most people will buy what they like, I won't be party to seeing artists ripped off.

I don't know if I like 11 Dreams better or not...so far Firesoul and 11 Dreams beat every song on The Hours that remain IMO..
Im gonna have to give it a quite a few more listens before I settle on a solid opinion.
But one thing remains, it still kicks ASS!:headbang:

I've heard it and I love it. I wondered how Kral's departure would affect the band but I shouldn't have. The riffs are heavy and catchy, Mike and Jacob are keeping it heavy, and Mikkel sounds great. His voice has a nice, gritty edge to it, esp on Redefine Me. You'll def. want to pick this cd up!:headbang:

I'm not really hearing the comparisons to Soilwork from what I've heard, but Mikkel's vocals sound better than ever (his cleans that is). I sure hope they have someone else growling at Progpower though. :p

They recently added René Pedersen of Transparent (I think that's his other band's name) as a bassist/vocalist to replace Kral. They posted information about it on their site here.

Oh you.

Well, I in the past used limewire where...well, everything sucked. That's just a shitty system. And I agree entirely about your thoughts on sharing.

Btw, I wouldn't ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever recommend eMule. That shit not only buggered up my computer, but even my cable internet starting goin :zombie: while it was running.

I also have a question here. What about eBay? I spent money on plenty of CDs there...but I wonder if the artists are ever gonna see any of it.

Oh, I know they replaced Kral. I remember reading in that interview someone posted that Mikkel said he did the growling for the new album. I was just commenting that he should stick to his cleans because his growls could use some work. :p Definitely missed Kral's growls on the new album, but otherwise the album is great. I imagine the bassist is going to do the growling live, so I wonder how that will turn out.
