Mesa recto recording preamp

You'll need an o/d pedal before you can get any metal tones with that. Unless you want nu metal tones of course.

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but if I play a recto recording pre through a mesa poweramp(like 2:90 etc.) will it sound like a rectifier head? I'm wondering because I might try it out with a band I'm gonna record pretty soon.

What od pedal ,808 maybe 820?

Well, as far as i know, the recto pre is going to sound similiar to the 3 channel dual/triple recto and thus, have a very loose bottom end. I have an OD808 but it didnt have enough effect. I use a shitty digitech bad monkey which works wonders for the low end but at the same time, steels quite abit of tone. Splatt88 on this forum has had great success with the Tech 21 Double drive for his recordings, you could try that. Although, saying all this, try the recto on its own first, might be fine for your tastes.
