Meshuggah tonight..

Meshuggahs not for everyone. I love them, I probably don't like a lot of bands you like either, but I respect the fact that they bring you joy.
.

a few of my friends went. i was going to but i had other stuff that i needed to spend money on.

Gwar is playing there on the 15th. i think i definatley have to go to that show. it sucks it's on a tues. night though.

The timing is exactly what would get me lost. I guess if you could ignore the other instruments, it would be pretty easy, but then they would have to follow you. I just can't imagine playing it with the other instruments, perfectly locked together.

Now, meshuggah mediocre is a lie. Even if they are easy to play, and I am just overawed because I am a noob at guitar, they still are an endlessly creative band. Notice how people are using the word meshuggahish to describe some bands riffs? Notice how they sound completly different from any band out there?

Notice anyone caring? Didn't think so, so shut up. Also, Meshuggahish is the ugliest word I think I've ever seen.

I never liked Meshuggah, they always seemed really dull.

Meshuggah is great. They may not be the most technical or accomplished band out there, but they've got a strong dystopian mechanical theme that appeal to sci-fi buffs like me, and I mean their sound, not their lyrics.

ya i just saw that GWAR is playing, I figure I kinda need to see them atleast once in my life time

i'm probably not going now.

i had to go and blow money on ammo for a camping trip next weekend and a steering wheel for my ps2.

that's $200 that i could have probably spent better (i probably have to buy more ammo tomorrow too).

who knows though, maybe i'll try to get a ticket the day before if i get bored at work.

i just hate going to shows when i have to be at work early the next day.

Trust me, it will take you a long time to learn.. not that the notes are hard or anything, but memorizing all the little changes in riffs takes quite some work.QUOTE]

You don't know how long it would take anyone to learn the song.

The solo album from the band's guitarist is better then anything the band has done.

It's just the fact that Meshuggah fans think they're the most difficult thing to comprehend either and almost fall into some kind of superiority complex because they listen to something that they think is really mindblowingly difficult that bothers me.
Opeth fans are pretty much the same.

Do you even know what "I" is? I think its safe for anyone to assume that a 21 minute song full of many riffs that have few patterns + a crazy solo will take a long time for anyone to learn. Fucking idiot.

Guess what, challenging music doesn't mean good music. In fact a lot of challenging music sucks because it's too focused on being challenging instead of being good. And Meshuggah sucks.

I agree with Dodens =-O

meshuggah has some jazz influence in some on their songs

Not to say you're wrong necessarily, but please explain specifically what their "jazz influences" and elements in their writing are. Things like "jazz" and "classical" "influences" get thrown around waaaaaaay to frequently without really meaning anything besides WHOAMG THEY HAVE JAZZ INFLUENCES THEY MUST BE GOOD. Very few metal bands have large, definite jazz or classical influences.

And what exactly is a long time? Did I give a definition of what I considered to be a short or long time? Why do so many fanboys become so offensive once someone says even the slightest thing about a band they adore? Get over yourself and your favorite band little boy.
