Metal productions that rival 'The Big 3'

Special Edition slaved through a Savage 120, and I assume through an Engl Pro 4x12. It's like the ultimate example of that upper-mid grind that Engls have, and the reason I haven't totally jumped ship on my love of the company (I used to be obsessed with 'em mostly cuz they looked cool and were expensive  Then I got disillusioned, but still lust for a Savage and maybe a Fireball, the rest can suck it :D) Check out this vid, fucking awesome info IMO!

I really liked the production on the Red Fang stuff. Wonderful roomy drum sound!

Wow, it almost sounds like a finished mix as they're tracking. I barely even get time to do a clean/rough mix to track to! Thanks for the up, Marcus. Was nice to see.

No doubt dude, that's the luxury of working with that kinda budget I suppose! And you gotta admit, even if you prefer his analog days, that's a pretty nice setup Nordstrom has! And I missed your post before, but I dunno, I like that kick I guess because it's got more of a full sorta splatty attack, whereas I feel the Organic kick is clickier (not a fan of clicky kicks, and on that note IMO "Demigod" is WAY worse than Organic in that respect; in the "I am the dull flame that burns" part of Conquer All, it seriously sounds like a guy tapping a pencil on a desk to me :erk: )

The End of Heartache KSE. I hate that band (contrived), never listen to them, but my ears were owned when I heard The End of Heartache through my sony bravia surround pumping out 1000 watts.

The vocal processing, the levels, the separation, the guitar tone. It is fkn crazy. They know what they are doing in the studio for sure.

All the best production tends to be the mega bands. Korn, Limp Busicuit etc etc. I would be in serious denial if I claimed more hip bands.

That snare is wwaaay too natural sounding *sarcasm*

I must admit, I am a bit old school, so my top three is:

-Machine Head: The More Things Change
-Fear Factory: Demanufacture
-Carcass: Heartwork or Swansong

I LOVED the production on the new Bloodbath album and the new Gojira album though. Amazing!
