METALCORE anyone?

While undeniably a Death Metal band if anything, I would even be bold enough to say that songs like TOUBABO KOOMI and 13 FINGERS qualify as the mighty ACID BATH'S metalcore moments.

Is it just me, or has it occured to anyone else that most bands really don't think about being labeled any particular genre as much as the fans, the industry and the rock press do? I'm an old fucker, and when I was growing up, bands like KISS were often referred to as "Acid Rock". I never even heard the term Heavy Metal used widely until the 80's and even then it was usually applied to hair metal bands! That should say alot about how much of a commercial, prefab, industry construct it is.I know that I am kinda going off on a tangent here, but labels are used in the best way to simply give fans a point of reference-they aren't supposed to be turned into fucking cult monikers!
