Mix is pretty decent pretty sturgishish idk if thats a good thing... Drums are really fake need more room to breathe... Give em some verb...

PS im listening on sennheiser HD280 pro headphones so it gets a lot more mids and highs... After referencing it really does need more mids to translate well...

What must one do in order to get the "muddiness" out of the mix? Oh and what all should I have on the stereo out? Low cut and high cut?

And yes the "sturgis" tone haha. What 16yr old doesn't think he's a god lol

the mix is too much scooped overall + it's boomy. try to not cut so many mids rather than boosting them again in the end.
the kick or thr bass makes it boomy I guess
but its definitely better than the first stuff you posted man, you're improving!

Just turn that eq smile upsidedown lol

Yes, medium-narrow Q (or multiple) from 1-3k, 5-8 for that high fizz but be careful or just mindful of how it's all going to sound with everything else if you're resorting to dramatic eqing... Make sure that everything fits together after you have gotten the sound you want from each instrument, then go back and boost and cut to make everything sit in the mix. Also, if you do boost those higher frequencies- play with a low pass filter 12k and up so not to have anything shrill going on

Apply that to everything in the mix with the boosts and cuts- the bass seems to be fighting with the kick to stick out.

Just sweep all over the place until you got what you feel sounds right and post another mix

were we talking about editing on the stereo out or guitar bus?
