Metalcore Mix

[Sean in Silence]

This is a band I recorded over the past couple days.
It's my first time officially adding synths, choirs, and strings to a mix.
There are just two parts of the song where I put them in, although in the part towards the end of the song I had some trouble trying to get the textures to sit well in the mix.

no problem
I used a Pod for guitars
diamond plate head with the treadplate 4x12 cab and condenser mic
used the screamer with 0% drive, 40% gain, and 60% tone
highpass and lowpass at 60hz and 12khz
cut a lot of 4khz and some 800hz and then used a harmonic exciter to brighten up the tone a bit.
used a limiter to make the guitars sound bigger, as they were only double tracked.
That's about it

And for the drums I used the Slate 3.0 samples.

Tdwp is one of their bigger influences.
I think we listened to all of Roots 5 times in just this one 4 day session.

Do you know which SSD kit/samples you used? I'm really liking the kick and snare sound.

Yup!
The snare was Snare 1 with a high pass at 80hz. The kick was kick 10 with a lot of low end cutting. I think it was a high pass at 50hz and cut at 200 I think. I'll have to check.

The kick seems really buried, no real low end kicking my balls like i would expect.

Guitars seem kinda hot, but that might just be me. Or being used to Joey's mix of tdwp.
