Wanna know what else? St.Anger is a good song. Because it's actually HEARTFELT instead of that robotic Master of Puppets bullshit. The ballads are the only good thing about old Metallica.

I remember a time when I felt like listening to any other band besides Metallica was grounds for execution. I quite literally worshipped that band in my youth.

It's so funny how times change. Now I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Metallica and will always be interested in what they do, but they don't give me that warm fuzzy anymore like they used to, aside from the classic albums. I don't get the tingling up my spine every time their name is mentioned. I actually like Load and Reload, but not as metal records.

Justice was a cut 'n paste thing, and still there are parts where Lars is out of time. But holy shit...Dyer's Eve...wow.

Puppets was the masterpiece, but in comparison with stuff today it doesn't hold the melt-your-face factor that it used to, mainly due to the sharp rise in musicianship and ability in the metal scene these days. But Orion will always be my favorite Metallica song.

As far as pure thrash metal goes, I have to agree with you.

MoP is a little more mature, but as far as pure headbanging goes, RTL all the way. Fucking Fight Fire With Fire and Kirk's solo from Ride the Lightning slays me.
