Metallica live are always great and enjoyable.
I know some of you younger guys read more negative comments and reviews of the band, but when they come around, if you are contemplating going to see them, do it.

that set list is funny. Basically saying.....hey metal is popular again and all the real true fans who got us here today dont like us so we better play the old stuff to get them back and regain some credibility again.

I am sure there might be some truth in that.
Though about half of the older tracks in that list they have been consistently playing for years.
They basically replaced the Load through St Anger tracks with older material that hasn't been played live as often.

I read somewhere a while back that Dragonforce is one of Kirk's favorite bands now. I am sure in the next band meeting, Kirk said, "Lars, I told you Guitar solos are necessary!!!"

I saw them three times from 1998-2000, but stopped going because their ticket prices became astronomical. I've been kicking the idea around again since they've busted out a lot of older songs.

They always kick a ton of ass in a live setting, and they're sounding a bit better recently than they had over the past 7-10 years.

I saw them in Philly in 03, and they really disappointed me. Every band has their off nights... although, if they come around here with that setlist and they play tighter than they did when I saw them, I'll be pleased.

I still have the flyer for when they opened for WASP at the Aragon Ballroom in 84 (or 85??) Ride the Lightning Tour!!! I was young at the time, and up til then had only been to bigger arena shows.

Like many, I was a close minded teen, so quickly dismissed them when Justice came out (Though I did secretly like the album).

The first time I went to check them out live was in 94 during the "Shit in the Sheds Tour" when Danzig and Suicidal opened. Glenn came out with Metallica for the encore to do "London Dungeon" That owned big time!

^ I remember that!
I was only 14 at the time. Mike Muir of Suicidal had a broken foot so he sat on the couch the whole time singing. My first show ever! I remember Metallica being awesome.

Yep!!! I forgot about Mike Muir performing from a couch..
Danzig completely owned!

I have a video boot of Metallica's set from that night as well.
Crappy quality tho.

 Small world we were at the same show.
You didnt happen to see a little Greek punk thrashing around in the lawn area did you? That would have been me.

Who brings an I pod or (would have been "walkman") in 94' to concert anyway.
Too funny.

I saw Cheap Trick at Grant Park this past Saturday.
My buddy and I were crackin' up because this one guy was sitting in the crowd listening to his IPOD.
We were like, "That's the ULTIMATE insult to a band playing live!"

Therefore, if MACHINE HEAD gets booked for Powerfest 2008, I am bringing my MP3 player!!! :p
