METALLICA: Recapturing The Heavy Metal Throne

No one should judge this album till its actually out. And I'm afraid the 'suckiness' cannot be downloaded because that "studio clip" is down. Of course I cannot tell, but what's on it? Do you actually hear one of the guys or bob rock? If not...i wouldnt pay much attention to it.

And no, this is not gonna be like KEA, RTL or puppetz. Its gonna be a new take on the old shit; because its been a long-ass time since they've released an 'in-your-face' album, and they miss it. According to lars himself, they scrapped a bunch of songs and took the fastest/heaviest to make the album.

And no solos...thats according to Bob Rock. Kirk could have some weird/crazy K. king shit going on for effect, but who knows. We'll have to wait. I just don't see how people can knock it before its even out. I'll just remember not to listen to your type when it does come out. Oh well. I'm curious as to see how 'metal' this album is....oh, and that reminds me: Maybe we'll hear/see this song on their icon performance. My guess is that they play something pre-load, possibly pre-black album.....or a new song. Lets hope its #2.

thats just my 2 cents.

I think the funniest part about this post is that the source is Mtv

cus we all know how in touch with the metal world they are *Laughs*

and to the guy who said testament should have the througn... for thrash metal they do.... theyv had it for along time bud.

im looking forward to the new metallica album.... cus i enjoy a good laugh :)

The Gathering wasn't exactly a solo fest, you fucking morons. Is The Gathering nu-metal? Or do you think fucking guitar wankery is the only thing that seperates "TROO HEVY FUKKIN METAAAAAAAAL!" from nu-metal? That clip of Metallica song's are all old and will not be on the album. Don't fucking judge the shit before its released, fucking idiots.

Take it easy there aggro...wouldn't want a vien to pop or something...

well i hate to bust your bubble, but none of that shit is ont he new album, that was all s hit they made up, but none of that is on the new album. and to all the cheese dicks who complain about metallica, they are the gods of metal, even chuck likes metallica, so just wait till the new cd comes out, then if you dont like it, good for you, but intill then fuck off

They were the kings of metal. They had the ability to play the best fucking metal on the planet - and that's what they did for about 10 years. But then something happened. James and Lars "went in a different direction"...whatever the hell that cliche means. To me, it meant that I stopped listening to their shit after I heard the Black album.

I don't care for their music, their short hair, their pretentious MTV interviews, Lallapalooza, their Napster stance, or their self proclaimed ascension into whatever they've become. Cliff would roll over in his grave if he heard "Nothing Else Matters" or "Hero Of The Day" !!!

No offense to Chuck, but I don't care if the Pope likes Metallica. I still think they ditched their fans and started making music for their wives.

Dont be stupid chuck didnt say he Likes metallica (currently) he liked there thrash stuff (past tense)

and steiner is right base your oppions on your own taste... not others.

I'm hoping for a mainstream Heavy Metal album with some decent material.

Mainstream and heavy metal in the same sentence...isn't that just as big an oxymoron as the following:

MICROSOFT WORKS
RAP MUSIC
AIRLINE FOOD
MILITARY INTELLIGENCE

Just checking...
Will never buy another Metallica album again...sorry, they sold out, they lost it, they suck, time to pull out my Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, my Death/Control Denied, my Carcass/Arch Enemy, my In Flames, and my Blind Guardian and let these has beens have at it. BOB ROCK BLOWS!

I don't care WHO likes Metallica. Chuck Schuldiner could like hammered shit for breakfast, doesn't mean I'd eat it. Not saying he did...just saying, I don't care who likes what, I have my own opinions, and on this one, METALLICA BLOWS!!! They sold out when Cliff died!!!
Proof?

And Justice For All - release of the video to One, mondo airplay, a big BIG Cliff no no
Black album - enter Bob Rock
Load (of shit) - Bob Rock, take a bow
ReLoad (you mean there's more?) - Bob, you really outdid yourself
Garage Inc. (hey, no Bob Rock, and it's not that bad! HOwever compare the new covers to the old...)
S&M (????) What is this garbage??? Sorry, hated it, it blew!!!
Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack (Bob Rock goes global, Don goes postal)
Yep...I think I have a strong basis for my opinion. I was the fool that waited for weeks outside a local music store in 91 for the fabled black album...bought it, and same day loaned it to someone...never asked for it back cause I never missed it. Nope, instead, popped Justice back in the player and all was well...ho hum

Metallica without Cliff's ingenuity and Dave Mustaine's riffing simply suck. Taking a Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine in exchange for a Bob Rock was the stupidest thing I've ever heard!! I mean come on, he's a failed 80's hair metaller for God's sake, has no one remembered Oingo Boingo...shit...and what about the highlight of his career prior to Metallica...Dr. Feelgood...A MOTLEY FUCKING CRUE ALBUM!!!!!!!!!

So will I buy this one? HELL FUCKING NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

You realize that Cliff was the main influence on all of their more melodic stuff, right? It's well documented that his classical experiences were the softening influence on Metallica's music that made it interesting and melodic.

Testament was making videos around the same time. So was Overkill. So was Megadeth. What's your point?

Dave Mustaine co-wrote all of two songs on Lightning, and said that one on Puppets (Leper Messiah, by no means a standout track in any case) contained his riff. And in any case, he was so bitter against his bandmates and jacked up on heroin that he was saying anything to he could to destroy their credibility.

It's impossible to "prove" that any band sold out, since you can't get inside their heads.
