Metallica..... trust me, click here

This sounds better than St. Anger. >:p~
I have gotten into some of the instrumental Bluegrass (like dueling banjos) when I was young. Some of the oldschool masters of that style like Flatt and Scruggs were elite musicians in their own rights. I haven't been exposed to much of it in probably 25 years. Though I live in Alabama (normally thought of as a "country" state) Southern Rock and classic rock are typically the music of choice for the yokles.

No, not heard that one. I've heard Apocalyptica, the cellists that do Metallica covers. Find the name of the Slayer band for me, I want to hear that!

Thanks ! If you liked those songs and seeing as you are open minded enough to check stuff out maybe you´d want to check out THE COFFINSHAKERS. Visit their website at www.coffinshakers.com

You can also check out a review I wrote of their "We Are The Undead" album here: www.metalgospel.com/Reviews/tcwe.html

And hear an MP3 here: www.metalgospel.com/hymnals.html

Thanks!! I love this kind of oddball stuff!! They have a pschobilly thing going on, very cool. How hard is that album to find?

Angel, have you ever heard Angry Johnny & The Killbillies? If you like the Coffinshakers you may like them. They have that country reverbed out twang with the funny lyrics. Here is a review from Allmusic.com of one of their albums ("Hankenstein")...

Angry Johnny's got a voice like dirty tar on toast: It's nasty and it goes down hard. It also happens to fit Hankenstein perfectly, a textbook example of that cagey beast of a subgenre known as "psychobilly." The tunes are all hardcore hootenanny material, and bandmembers Jim Joe Greedy, Al Camino, and Sleepy Animall Kaisla rollick through the numbers with a mad abandon. Lyrically, the tunes focus mostly on macabre twists on traditional country motifs. "Life, Love, Death and the Meter Man" tells the tale of a man so upset about his wife's suspected infidelity that he hacks the meter man to pieces with a chainsaw. "Poor Little Raccoon" explores roadkill, while "Prison Walls" is a wailing plea from a man in the big house. What brings it all together is Angry Johnny's vocals — the man can barely carry a tune, yet his tortured howls seem to be the only voice that could accurately convey the mix of morbidity and pathos at the heart of these songs. It's not a pretty voice. It's not even enjoyable to listen to all the time. But you cannot deny the anger and passion behind it. If you can let yourself into the music and swallow that tar-covered toast, you may find yourself carried away by the music's momentum. Otherwise, Hankenstein is an album best left to psychobilly aficionados and those who probably can't carry a tune that well themselves. — Matthew Springer

I´m not sure how easy it is to get. You could try their label: www.primitiveartrecords.com . I´ll also hopefully be getting some copies for my distro soon.

I´ve never heard of those guys before but they sound right up my alley ! Thanks for the recommendation.

That would also be Apocalyptica... they did an album covering various bands like Slayer, Pantera, etc.

I try to check out as much stuff as I can, be it metal or whatever. You guys would probably laugh at some of the stuff in my collection, metal only makes up about half of it. Everything from the Bay City Rollers to Sinatra to the soundtrack to Blade Runner. :) Last week when Plan13 stopped by for our weekly night of beer consumption he was trying to add up how many hours it would take to listen to everything in the collection one time. I don't remember the total but it sure was funny watching a drunk do math. :D

Hey... wait a minute... I'm the freakin' guy who brought the Iron Horse over to you!!!! Damn!!! No freakin' respect for a drunkin' punk................boo hoooooo

You should have posted it...... you snooze you lose. :D

Post some of those wacky acoustic metal covers you've found (or done yourself).
