MetallicaSux

They are all very good bands( thats is the thrash bands tha everyone is talking about- that all released damn good albums) Metallica has its first 4 albums, as does megadeth , and slayer- plus Divine intervention- which I think is underrated, Sepultura has 4 starting with Schizophrenia, 4 awesome thrash albums per band seems to be the norm for the big thrash bands. The only thrash band I never cared for is Anthrax- but thats just a matter of personal taste. I think Testament has put out at least 4 classic albums- and they are the only thrash band that seems to be improving. The point is every one of these band contributed something new and interesting to thrash metal- and for that I thank and love all of them.

What about all the other thrash bands that never got as big? Dark Angel springs to mind- with better production- and a decent record deal I think they could and should have been talked of in the same breath as metallica, slayer etc. They had it all, the technical chops, the riffs, awesome drumming, even a epic song- their singer could have been a little better- but one gets used to his Arayesque delivery.

You must be mad. Sepultura only have 2 great albums, Beneath and Arise - everything else is mediocre.
What the fuck? Haven't you heard Schizophrenia? A truely wicked, disturbing piece of art. I obviously have a bias for Sepultura cause I'm their biggest fan. I cant explain why I like them so much other than I feel their music is pretty intense.

Megadeth blows. I admit I like a few songs like "Hangar 18" but Mustaine is a shitty vocalist. He sounds like a whining pussy.

Metallica's early work is pretty good (no, I dont think they were as great as everyone makes them out to be but) for their music. I never cared for Hetfield's vocals but some of the solos were good.

Kreator is just wicked. That "Await" song is so great.

Has anyone heard St. Anger? It sounds like Lars
is hitting a trash can lid. What a horrible snare drum
sound.

Megadeth > Metallica, but only because of Metallica's new stuff. If were were comparing classic material only, I think they come out pretty much evens. Both have their pros and cons. Anyway, Destruction is the best thrash metal band ever. Get over it.

I'd agree with Tanith. Metallicas first 5 albums were better than Megadeths, but Load, Reload, S+M and St Anger just ruin Metallica's overall status nowadays. At least Megadeth managed some decent albums with Cryptic Writings and The World Needs A Hero - AND they never forgot how to play a fucking guitar solo!

Metallica's first five albums were all better than Megadeth's best, IMO. Sure, Megadeth were more proficient with their instruments, but not with their song-writing.

I agree GoD, apart from RIP which is better IMO than KEA,MOP or TBA. Overall though, Metallica were streets ahead of Megadeth until Load.

St Anger has just destroyed any respect I might have had for them (like they give a fuck, seen as the piece of piss has made them another fucking fortune).

:erk:

Meh, Metallica already had a fortune from all their previous releases. Not sure why they had to go and sell out in such spectacular fashion. I mean, sure, load, reload and garage inc. didn't exactly sell well, but they didn't have to go and produce crap like St. Anger just to add another load onto their already heaving bank accounts. Oh well, chances are that if they produce another piece of crap like St. Anger, people will start catching on and stop buying the albums.

Nah. I like some of Metallica's ealier works but ANY of Slayer's work rules over them any day. Anthrax is alright but never great.. And Megadeth... they're weak and I dont think they should be even considered to be the greatest in thrash. If I got to choose the great thrash bands to be Kreator, Sepultura and Slayer.
Slayer owned, this is true. The only band in the Major 4 that rivalled Metallica's work, methinks.

WHAT?!! Anthrax were clearly the best of the big 4 apart from Metallica! And these days they're the only one of the big 4 still producing truly great albums!

Damn, you people have no taste. :p

What's so great about Anthrax. I dont get it.

I bloody love Slayer. Reign In Blood is so intense. It deserves to be called a classic. I love Divine Intervention too but no one really talks about this album as much. What do you all think of this album? I think with that album they did their work different from their other albums. Heh, and I even like some of their newer songs from God Hates Us All.

And you all need to check out Sepultura's work from Schizophrenia.
