I love metalheads. I think they are the greatest people in the world. Yes I'm biased, but who isn't?

It just seems like people are lazy lately. Maybe it's just Milwaukee, But it seems that less and less people are coming out to shows. Less people are supporting local music. There are less bars playing metal. What's the deal?
People are getting all their music and concerts online. Damn computers. hehe.

Is it just me or is everyone noticing similar declines in there respective local metal scenes?

The Pirate's Den in Gloucester City, NJ (RIGHT over the bridge from Philly) is a primarilly Metal bar. I saw Mourning Beloveth and The Prophecy there in 2002? or was it 2003? i forget.

unfortunately the internet does a lot of damage and i'm guilty of it myself I looove so many bands and dont always go to shows or buy music merch cuz im too cheap or too broke-I keep telling myself support my favorite bands because you never know they might not be there tommorrow-it has happens all the time

There are bars that play metal?

Yes before I turned 21 there were like 5 metalbars here, when I turned 21 there were no more left.

Now that I'm 27 there's one, but it's so small you can't really have a good time. When there's 20 people there it's packed. It's like I'd rather stay at home a get drunk with my friend for less money and crank whatever tunes I want/

Plenty of metal bars here. Some *more* metal than others, but all ace. I saw Nevermore at one just last September.

I can go to a really ace bar, get good drinks, enjoy some really varied metal music (never *too* underground though) and then head to a club thats open to 3am that plays a TONNE of metal, depending on what floor you're on and what night, black metal, thrash, traditional, death...everything.

Who'd have thought Scotland would have an ace metal scene?

Yeh hence my big dilemna as of late. I've been planning on opening a metalshop for years now, complete with tattoo shop in the back, lounge area, selling cds, merchandise, clothing, shoes, jewelry, statuary, incense, you name it, but as it draws closer to the opening I find myself doubting the whole thing. Doubting that it can be successful in a world ruled by machines.
Part of me wants to just keep the online shop and scrap the actual physical part. It's like do I risk it and go through all that hard work or do I take my money and move out to Seattle where I'm more happy and start a band.

I mean would you guys shop at a place like that?

Hell yeah-I mean who the heck want's to shop at Hot Topic in the mall-I know I don't
As with any business I think you could do very well with the right location advertising etc-I think now more than ever would be the time to go for it-Metal is stronger than ever and I think it is just going to keep getting better-

Well, I live in Los Angeles...so we get plenty of shows/gigs/whatever. I don't know of any "metal bars" though. Plus, I'm not 21, so it's not like I'd be able to get into them anyway

Man, that sounds great. My town is much too small for a metal scene, but there's a small bit in Columbus and Cincinnati. Cleveland seems to have a great music scene, but that's 250 miles away.

los angeles is where hair metal originated but its nothing huge anymore. maybe a couple big bands live out here but the scene isnt that huge out here. it is very rare to see someone blasting metal in their car. ive only witnessed that twice. the first time was when i first got in to metal, i heard someone listening to Vol 3 subliminal verses by slipknot (which is the first metal CD i got) and the second time was two months ago. someone was blasting devil driver.

whenever my housekeep (yes i know im spoiled like that shut up) takes me places she lets me bring a CD and i usually blast it. one time i got into a music volume battle with some wankster fag. i won because metals a lot louder and more kick ass.

i get a lot of shit at my school for listening to metal becasue there are only 3 metalheads including me. but im not one of those gay followers who listen to mainstream shit thats played on the radio. thats what makes metal passionate for me.
