Dark Tranquillity - Lost To Apathy

This video might appear simplistic at first glance, but don't let the lack of color and the typical 'band-playing-in-a-warehouse-video' fool you. This one is as professionally directed and aesthetic as it gets. Unusually wide screen (the picture occupates as little as 1/3 of it), glimpses of mysterious landscapes, well-used effects, camerawork and editing - all underline the professionalism of the guys who worked on it. Very similar to David Fincher's video for Judith (A Perfect Circle) - simple thematically but perfect in execution.

Dark Tranquillity - Character

While other Gothenburg bands sometimes miserably fail at keeping their identity, Dark Tranquillity, after more than 15 years of existence, never disappointed their fans. And yet they challenge themselves with every new album, as they've never recorded twice the same album and still managed to keep their very distinctive sound. Character certainly shows an evolution towards more modernism (that doesn't mean nu-metal!) compared with Damage Done, but it sounds like a Dark Tranquillity album. How many bands have their unmistakeable sound like that, whatever they may play?
