mic moving around the dustcap: same sound?

Hola folks, just a random question about the mic position around the dustcap:

(see image attached below): if you put your SM57 in with the same orientation in the position A or in the position B (which is supposed to be the "same", just in another location), are you expected to get the exact same sound?

I hope this hasn't been discussed before. If it did, sorry, I couldn't find it.

Ive been told they will sound the same....dosen't mean its fact though

It sure will be the same but with a slight difference...becouse you wont be able to put it in the exact spot!

It'll be different, but not a ton different. The air behind each spot is different because of the different distance from the other speakers in the cabinet.

I daresay that you'd not be able to hear a difference in the mix, though.

I thought that theoretically, the tone should be the same if your 57 was positioned on the left or on the right of the dustcap, if the orientation is exactly the same.

I may be wrong (I tested this late last night), but I felt like the tone was MUCH brighter (and full of fizz) when the 57 was pointing in the position where the solderings are, below the dustcap... any thoughts about this?

Consistency is so poor with some speakers (celestion for one) that it wouldn't surprise me at all to get a different sound from a supposedly identical part of the speaker.

I've struggled for years with mesa cabs filled with v30 to get rid of the 4k -> 8k fizzes (so far with rather little success) and never thought to test this. I have been very surprised of what I heard.

By the way, are there various versions of V30 (besides the ohms changes)? I checked the sneap pics of his world famous straight cab and didn't noticed the soldering marks on the HPs... Just wondering if this may have some influence on the fizzes
