Micr.d.t. – Never Mind The Full Stops
Self released – demo 2002
By Russell Garwood

“Never Mind The Full Stops” is the debut demo from English one man noise project Micr.d.t., whose music is extreme and electronic. Largely constructed from samples with strong rhythms and industrial elements, it shares influences with bands like Electrovomit and the digital hardcore/gabber scene. There are differences, however; the sound incorporates a considerable amount of melody and feels much more cohesive than much hardcore electronics, making it considerably more accessible.

Opener “Gishst” uses scratches, strong drums and beeps to create a compelling melody which crescendos and leads into noise through the eight minute track. “21st Century Vulva” begins like a computer game soundtrack before discords are added to the casio-like sounds . These become increasingly frequent while the track grows steadily more manic and noisy, before processed vox are added and the track ends at the 15 minute mark. “timetoplay” features more drums and static but this time adds variety, including guitars and vox.

“Never Mind The Full Stops” is a very successful release - Micr.d.t manage to take the extremity of hardcore electronics, add enough melody to make it catchy and incorporate numerous other elements to avoid monotony. This demo will appeal to not only electronics fans but also those looking for the energy and extremity of metal in another genre. “Never Mind The Full Stops” is more accessible and eclectic than such music tends to be, so would be a good place to start for those new to the genre – an excellent debut.
