Microcube recording

Righto, I record using my (great) microcube, and I was wondering:

1: Does anyone else use it?
2: If so, what do you use to edit the sound?

I record into Cubase LE, and EQ it with Classic EQ plugin.

Roland Microcube? Damn dude, I have the Roland Cube 30, and while I love it as a practice amp, I would never want to record its tone! (especially direct!) Got any clips though?

you would be better off with a good amp sim and impulses. I would use the cube for cleans though

have you tried all the options with it? [direct with its cab sim, a line out with an external cab sim, line out with virtual cab sim, mic and direct blended, quad vs. 2 tracks, using 2 diff amps for L and R gits?]. Seems like at least one would yield a pretty good result. Your version might not have the capability of running a line out with no cab sim though, not sure.

anymore, for my demos, I just run a line out from my randall, into a cheap cab sim, and put a mock analog tape compressor on 'em, no further EQ. I use a different guitar for L and R to get some variation in the 2 git sounds. works fine for me yo. I just kept posting stuff until I got the EQ on the amp where peeps didn't seem to complain about EQ stuff; at that point, you don't need a VST EQ cause it's dialed in on the amp. I know peeps say don't further compress distorted guitars, but the tape compressor AU I use really makes 'em come alive more somehow.

I thought the headphone output on the microcube doubles are a direct out?

Pretty sure it already has some sort of frequency-compensation to make it sound like a cab though (unless they think someone would wanna listen to a direct preamp signal through headphones! )

Well it was like that on my crap BC Rich pack amp
That's when I discovered impulses when plugging it in the PC.

I know that it has a rec out, but when I record into a cab sim, it sounds worse than the original tone...
Knowing me, I'm probably just doing it wrong, which is why I need someone to take me through it step by step.
