Mike on the Chilli's

The RHCP's? Not great, should have been a whole lot better with outstanding muscians and great sound. But they've had some awesome songs over the years....Breaking the Girl and Scar Tissue come to mind. Maybe its that their funk is too bland, but they can make some great melodies. Fair enough for a pop band IMO.

It's strange.. i'm wearing a shirt of theirs currently.. but not because i like them.. merely because it's a really comfy shirt!

They blow. Good bassist, decent drummer and guitarist.. loser singer. Next ;)

loved the RHCP in the 80s and early 90s, saw them a couple times live and had a blast - even met the fuckers backstage! but after Mother's Milk I lost the love... just dont like their new stuff. but glad to see that they still got enough fans, new ones too so I guess they're still going strong but not for me

I love Mother's Milk. That's a sweet album. Their newer stuff isn't as good but I'd still listen to it I guess. My friend always used to play their new CD in his car and while there are a few really cool songs, there's also a lot of filler. That's what plagues them: too many mediocre songs.

think they are great, and i dont agree with mike. got every album and i dont think they sound the same at all, stardium arcadium is not that good record though

The only one I ever listen to is "One Hot Minute," that one hardly has any bad songs and is by far the most interesting musically. There are some decent songs on all the other albums I've heard from them through Californication, the one after that was terrible, haven't heard the new one. They definitely don't sound the same on every album as they basically turned into old sad bastard music on californication.

whats that?

Listen to "Scar Tissue" and "Californication" and you have the answer. It's dreary and depressing and what energy it has sounds like an old guy who's had a terrible day trying to drag himself off the couch. I don't dislike either song, but they are shining examples of old sad bastard music. Most of the rest of the album is also sad bastard music, with the few attempts at lively songs mostly not being as good.

scar tissue is a great song. I think the point is they have a few awesome songs, unfortunately they are spoiled by the fact they try and make the same 'awesome' tune every single time. it gets old quickly. talented lads though.
