I finally got around to finishing a mix.
I think the vocals might be in the wrong place still, and I'm not sure how it will hold up vs some of the other mixes.

I started from scratch again.
I'm pretty sure the vocals are in the right place now. I'm still not satisfied with that clean vocal, I just can't get it to fit in.

I just touched up the mix a little. I'm not exactly sure whether it sounds any better or not, but I really did run into a brick wall with the bass guitar. I put a few more subs in there, but it may be too much? My 5" drivers don't tell me, so you guys have to! haha.

I don't know man, I'm so used to hearing the song my way now I can't even tell what's better or worse.

I will say I was distracted by the snare sample. Both too loud and very little if any variation in sound. bring it down a notch and I might not notice it's a sample.

I reminded Holyhavok yesterday about the new mixes, but I don't know if he's checked them out yet.

Horses for courses I guess. The snare sound was actually one element of the mix I was reasonably happy with, in terms of both its sound and impact, level-wise. Are you monitoring in mono by any chance?

It may be worth noting that the snare 'clipping' in the left OH is still quite present in your mix.

El-biczel - kick drum is way too hot and compressing everything.

Moonlapse, I didn't mean that the snare didn't sound good, it works well. Snare level seems to be a matter of personal preference anyway.

I know im a little late in the game, but here is my mix.

I usually sample replace all the drums, but decided to try something different since this is just for fun, so all the drums are just as they were recorded.
I normally only get input about my mixes from my mom too, as wierd as that is, so im looking forward to some constructive criticism from anyone on here.

Perhaps look into separating the individual elements of the mix a bit more. There's a pretty hefty mid-bass and 200Hz-ish bump in that mix. Afterward you might want to consider hitting it up with some high-end to liven the mix up and get over the 'closed' sound.

picked this up yesterday, and have spent a while today on it.
Ive only been mixing about a year now, so i can take all the tips you can give! still, i'm pretty happy with the result

Ive tried something different near the end, and as its only for fun, "borrowed" a lamb of god sample. you might recognise it.

you convert them to 24 bit, then import.
I used Foobar 2000, but I don't know what I'd use on a Mac.

Hey, this is basically my first mix ever! I gave it a quick go, forgot to pan the hihat... But I really need to get some sleep now.. I forgot to download the vocals, the will add them maybe tommorrow.
Btw, you will notice the white noise from time to time... I used the apptrigga demo version, I already ordered it though but they haven't give me the key yet, so sorry for that.
