mixing challenge

Bugger, how did I miss this?

Anywhere I can still download the source tracks, I could really do with the practice even if I've missed the deadline?

Cheers

Muttley

Matt, check your PM on GS :headbang:

Muttley, I uploaded many times the files for the ones who wanted to give this mix a try.
Currently, you can find the vocal and bass tracks here :
http://sylvain.raulin.free.fr/STILLRISE/

PM when you downloaded those, and i'll upload the drums and guitars again.

Just for the fun, here is the song we recorded, played live in Grenoble last march :
http://sylvain.raulin.free.fr/Stillrise - La Nouvelle (live Eve 11_03_06).mp3

This is a stereo recording from the live console.
I did my best to improve the poor sound (not everything in the drums was going through the speakers, no cymbals, no snare bottom + lots of vocals).
I had to EQ and compress the hell out of it.
It was a good show but as you can hear, the vocals and some parts were not played as we play it now.

Here is another more recent show, where I had the same problems to get a good sound :
http://sylvain.raulin.free.fr/Stillrise - Live Grenoble La Bifurk 12 mai 06 - Fade Out.mp3

We play tomorrow with the australian metalcore band PARKWAY DRIVE, you can check them out at www.myspace.com/parkwaydrive (great analog sound !)
Great show I hope.

Parkway Drive sounds like a killer band ! I have their last one, produced by Killswitch Engage's guitarist, and it sounds fucking good, with an analog, warm vibe, I really dig that production style (I also dig Andy's sound in an other way :p).

We play with them in Valence, France, with two other bands : our friends Insight MHC (http://www.myspace.com/insightmhc), brutal tough core ; and Makdan, a band from Valence.

Hope it will be a great live show :p ... and Parkway Drive are going to play on our backline (my drums, our cabs, ....).

As for the live song, I should get one less compressed, but that was the only way I found to make it sounding bigger.

Is it recorded/mixed analog? It sounds killer though i find it a bit overproduced sometimes... "Smoke 'em if you got 'em" was better on the old!

I A/Bed it with SaS and it's a bit warmer maybe...

could anyone upload the links again please? i search for the track to give it a try but

the links are down :(

I'll upload the guitars and drums again, but I need to know everyone has downloaded the vocals and bass.

Muttley, please, let me know when it's done for you.

Thanks.

Sly

Got 'em all so far.

If it's a question of space/bandwidth I could probably donate some if you like. :)

Btw I like to have the guitars too... maybe I give it a shot later too...maybe I got some hidden mixing skills ;)
Which was the winning mix? I like to hear it ;)
