Blegh.. Let's keep the story short and sweet.

I'm out of a car now.. need extra hand cash and rent will be a pain in the ass this month haha.

Basically I've come to a dead end where I have 3 options of getting cash..

1. My Guitar which I would HATE to sell.. it's made perfectly for me.. nothing I can complain about.. my favorite guitar of all time.. don't want to lose her.

2. My Cabinet.. which won't bring much at all.. seeing how it's vintage and used and blah blah blah.

3. My Mesa head.. which is near mint condition with new tubes.. so I know it'll pull in a semi decent amount.. trying to get 1,000 for it if I sell it.

But the problem still arises.. I know I may just end up ebaying my head today.. but what alternatives do I have to a decent head?

Would I need to look towards getting a 6505+ or something to help? or even a 5150 II? I'm trying to keep my tone somewhat badass still.. but I need the extra cash.. no doubt.

So.. What alternatives do I have mates?

Tone similarities I like to have are:
Opeth. obviously I love their punch .. which a Mesa has.
Between the Buried and Me .. Paul Waggoner has a racktifier.. nuff said

but I like to stray towards more booming mid ranged tones like
3 Inches of Blood
Converge
All Shall Perish

Any help is greatly appreciated

Ouch, sucks dude, but fortunately Mesa heads are EVERYWHERE for great prices here, so you won't have any trouble scoring another for a good price when the time comes! (you'll be the regular prodigal son :D) So yeah, I definitely vote some variant of the 5150 (FYI, 5150=6505 and 5150II=6505+ ;)), I've heard a lot more complaints about the 6505's than the 5150's as far as reliability; maybe it's a coincidence, maybe not, but since certainly nothing changed for the better when they started calling them 6505's, I don't see any reason to go for one (and the 5150's look cooler IMO :D) Tone wise, I'd rather have a Krank Rev Jr., but I don't think it'd have enough power for most gigs - HOWEVER, now that there's the Rev Jr. Pro 50 watt, now that I think of it, that's 100% my vote! And you can totally get $1200 for your 3 ch. Dual Rec!

And after reading ahj's suggestion, it reminds me to mention that while some might recommend the JSX, I can't stand it; it can be made to sound decent in a mix, sure, and is very reliable and versatile (3 channels, switchable FX loop, amazing clean), but man, the character of the distortion I can't stand, I find it metallic and lifeless sounding, just not a pleasing sound to my ears at all. I owned one for 1 year, tried it through many cabs, and every clip I've heard of it by other people has corroborated this.

Thanks dudes.. good suggestions.. (You should pop on AIM btw.. I'd like to talk this out with ya..)

I had a JSX though.. sold that one just a bit ago.. and for now I may just have a chance to get something like 6505+ or 5150..

The XXX isn't bad.. just doesn't call to me all that much for some reason.. maybe it's all in my head.

I am all about my 5150. That plus a tube screamer and noise gate should satisfy most anybody. Maybe you could trade a dude your mesa for a 5150 and some cash. I see on craigslist that there is a guy in cincinnati that is selling a 5150 for $550. He is selling a dual rec also so he probally wouldn't want your mesa though.

Peace out yo.

I have B-52 AT-100 for 3 years, and the head sounds amazing with the Maxon 808. Some people say that it has better clean... compare with he Mesa... (and overdrive chanel also??? :):Saint:

The best and cheapest way to the mesa sound... buy an AT-100 on the ebay, replace the tubes, and you have your own mesa.

See the harmony central reviews and the youtube vids:u-huh:

Check my Gear (EMG, Maxon 808, B-52 At 100 and ENGL V30)

Metal up your A&#>&đ:rock:

And sorry my English is not the best:p

So people say, I won't believe it until I hear clips! (hint hint Antonio :D)

Hahaha sorry dude, that may not be soon, and we haven´t found a sweet micing spot yet, but let me tell you, that amp is great! and i have´t tried it with and Tubescreamer. that would be my recomendation, you can believe it until you have it, even with stock tubes are really nice.
