Monitor amplifier?

I'm picking up a set of passive monitors soon and am looking for an amplifier to go with them. What's a good rack mountable power amplifier for ~$300? New or used doesn't matter..

I've found some Alesis RA-100s for a good price. Would one of those get the job done?

Hafler P1500 is what I use, if you can find one..... On some other forums it was recommended over the Alesis/Crown stuff and was about the same price.
BTW I was told to stay away from the Alesis cheap stuff.
