Monitorcontroller - question

I'm thinking about buying a Monitorcontroller.
At this time i have the volume on my monitors set to full and set volume via the monitoroutputknob at my saffire pro40. I read something about quality loss doing it that way because of converters..bit loss and so on... Is this true? I often feel like i have to push the volume on my interface to make it sound right.
Will a Monitorcontroller improve that? I need one soon anyway to switch between two pairs of monitors.

I understand that it's best to output full volume from the converters and regulate the volume on the analog side. It definitely makes sense. The Drawmer MC2.1 is very transparent and would be my choice.

ok thats what i thought..thanks for your info!
im thinking about sm pro audio m-patch 2 or maybe the spl 2control but i will look at the drawner

The SPL is said to not sound transparent iirc, not sure about the SM Pro. These here have been praised on Gearslutz for their total transparency http://new-old-sound.com/products/20-mcone just haven't heard one yet.
