Moonsorrow/Woods Of Ypres - January 15th, 2007

hey, i just got back from the concert. it was great, woods put on an AWESOME show, although i was disappointed that they didn't play any Pursuit songs.. ;P

had to leave early..but overall a great night!

i was the kinda young looking guy with a Whoodie LOL

That has to go down as one of the best shows I have seen. Great sets from both Woods and Moonsorrow. You both played my favourite songs, so I went home oh so happy.

That opening band wasnt too bad either. I will probably check them out now.

Oh, I was in the Celtic Frost shirt and the patch vest. If anyone spotted me, Haha.

Awesome show!!!! Decent turn out for a monday night & shitty driving weather. The sound for Woods and Moonsorrow was excellent which made for a great evening of music. I thought both bands made for a wicked pairing. I missed the opener unfortuantly. One of my favourite moments is when Dave ditched the guitar and sang Iron Grudge. Those lyrics were heavy.

I have "Sea Of Immeasurable Loss" on video and a song from Moonsorrow that I will upload to youtube when I get a moment.

Oh and heres the definition of Epic. Moonsorrow playing the first song off their new album for the very first time live. 30 fucking minutes long give or take. Wow!

If anyone filmed some bootleg footage of the show for either band please get in touch with me.

Heres to a great year in 2007 for my brothers in arms Woods Of Ypres!

Cheers!

I saw some guy taping the entire Moonsorrow show. I will see if he can send it to me, I got his email.

Cool! Let me know if you can get it Z-kai. I know someone was filming woods as well. I meant to talk to him and give him my email but I got distracted.

Still on a high from the show. Going to smoke a dube and relax and watch TRON! :)

Hail All,

On behalf of the band and I, I would like to say HUGE thanks to everyone who did make it out to the show tonight, despite the epic, grim, frostbitten Toronto, Ontario, CANADA, black northern storm weather.

+ A extra thanks also goes to Josh from Detroit, who drove all the way from Detroit for this show, and also to the Royal Carnage gang who flew all the way from Los Angeles. I hope you guys had a killer time in Toronto!

+ A last thanks to Profugus Mortis and Moonsorrow for an awesome show for us to be a part of! Hopefully we'll meet again soon!

Gtg, need sleep, + I have an early flight in the morning. :heh:

DG - \w/ :kickass:

Damn, I can't remember fuck all of Moonsorrow's set! I remember congratulating Dave on an awesome show after they got off stage, having a couple more beers, then being driven home by the very nice Royal Carnage L.A. group!

it was the second song off of their newest album that they played, not the first. so it was 27 minutes of epicness, but still epic as hell.

and the woods setlist for those that wanted to know was:
1. Your Ontario Town Is Your Burial Ground
2. The Northern Cold
3. Iron Grudge
4. Intro: The Shams Of Optimism (then right into) Crossing The 49th Parallel
5. The Sea Of Immeasurable Loss
6. A Meeting Place and Time

great set. it was a shame though that the entire crowd didn't get fully into it until i guess about halfway through Iron Grudge, which was very cool to see Dave sans guitar belting out the lyrics!

Moonsorrow's setlist was, uhhh, well these are the songs i know they played (not in this order):
Pimeä
Ukkosenjumalan Poika
Tuleen Ajettu Maa (first time ever played)
and i think they played these:
Aurinko ja Kuu
Koylionjarven Jaalla Pakanaved

they played 9 songs, one being an encore. i was in the front row right in front of Ville and i was trying to see their setlist, but it was written very quickly and only parts of the titles were used (like the song after the encore was abbreviated as AQ or AO). PLUS, i can't read Finnish

great show though. my neck still hurts and my ears are still ringing

Ahhhh it was the 2nd song they played from the new one. Thanks for clarifying.

I was very impressed with Moonsorrow live. I am quite new to this band but they really sold me with their live performance. I saw both Inflames and Opeth play their debut Toronto gigs at the Kathedral and seeing Moonsorrow play there was fantastic and memorable!

Just wanted to add they played Deadhouse (Katatonia Cover). Which was the 2nd or 3rd song they played. :headbang:

ahh yes Deadhouse. that was the second song. i completely forgot about it and when i was looking at the list it didnt' seem totally correct.

i personally wanted to hear the first track off of Moonsorrow's newest. the middle section in it gets me every time. so good. and they put on a great show. energetic, tight. very nice. i wa a tad disapointed they didn't have the warpaint on, but whatever.

does anyone know why Henri Sorvali wasn't there??

and Arcane Son, that must have been crazy to see Opeth and In Flames at The Kathedral. i remember i came across a pic of Opeth live at that show and i kicked myself for not getting into them sooner
