JORN LANDE And RUSSELL ALLEN Collaborating On New Album - Aug. 30, 2006
Recording sessions of the second chapter of the highly anticipated album from Jorn Lande (MASTERPLAN, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) and Russell Allen (SYMPHONY X) started during August. Once again Magnus Karlsson (LAST TRIBE, STARBREAKER) penned a set of songs which fit perfectly to the voices of the two characters. The album will be entitled "The Revenge" and some early songstitles include "Victory", "The Revenge", "Who Can You Trust", "Wake Up Call", "Gone Too Far" and "Under The Waves". As one the project's debut, the cover art will be designed by Rodney Matthews (DIAMOND HEAD, MAGNUM, PRAYING MANTIS etc.). A 2007 release via Frontiers Records is expected.

Since 1995, Russell Allen has been the singer of the American prog-metal band SYMPHONY X, which has released six studio albums and one live CD. Former MASTERPLAN vocalist Jorn Lande has a vocal capability that is world-class, distinctive, rich and spanning a large range. As such, the man is in high demand since he has guested or sung for such bands as MILLENIUM, ARK, THE SNAKES and many others. He is also a well-known solo artist with four albums under his belt, beginning with his 1999 debut, "Starfire".

This is great news, I loved the first one. Timeless and strong hardrock/metal tracks with two of the most powerful singers around, what could possibly go wrong?:kickass:

I like the first one very much and I hope the next also will deliver. Thanks for the cool news.

Good news, I like the first one alot. Just hope it won't get any more 'commercial' ; were the first has some very catchy tunes this can turn into some boring sing-along stuff fast....

As for the PP concert maybe these musicians will join Jorn ???

Lande's band for the occasion ;Zak Stevens of CIRCLE II CIRCLE and ex-SAVATAGE, Lance King of PYRAMAZE, Michele Luppi from VISION DIVINE, Pasi Rantanen of THUNDERSTONE, Mikkel Sandager of MERCENARY, Michael Eriksen from CIRCUS MAXIMUS and guitarist Mattias "IA" Eklundh of FREAK KITCHEN.

Thanks for the info, looking forward for it too.

The first one got trashed on a lot of metal boards, but I love it. Sure, it isn't real heavy, but it is an incredibly catchy melodic hard rock album.

My biggest complaint with the first one, and this may just be me, is that I have some trouble telling the difference between J and R's vocals on that album. Jorn is a vocal chameleon, but I think Allen has a pretty distinctive voice. Still, most of their stuff sounds similar on the A/L album. Still, no real complaints. I look forward to the next one.

Undying Allen-Lande question: Which one is the T-Rex 2 legged dino and which one is the triceratops 4-legged dino?

I had a hard time telling them apart too! Strange.

Same here...It just seems a record with only one vocalist...

I had no issues in distinguishing between the vocalists. Jorn's voice is more distinctive & pronouced without a doubt. It did seem as though he took a more laid back approach to delivery though. That being said...Jorn still ruled that release. Hopefully, Allen will step up to the plate & deliver on the next.

Jorn does sing with an accent at times & on the new samples I think it rather pronounced.

The difference is not as obvious as Coverdale/Hughes were in Purple, Completely different styles, IMO.

Anyway I will buying this CD..................

I'm going to put the 1st cd on again with headphones & see it sounds any clearer to me now.

Neither do I, actually I found funny the fact they sound so alike because I have heard them separately and they don't sing similarly at all.

My complaint regarding the first album is that I expected something "bigger", now that I know the limitations of the project I'm confortable with a sophomore album, I will purchase it.

l completely agree with you. considering the talents involved l would have thought that it would have been a little more "over the top"...or maybe heavier. It almost seemed as though they were holding back somewhat. Still it is a good release and l have high hopes for the next one.

Great album? Yes! Album of the year? With these other candidates?

  • Redemption - The Fullness Of Time
  • Kamelot - The Black Halo
  • Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution
  • Circus Maximus - The 1st Chapter
  • Bruce Dickinson - Tyranny Of Souls
Nope. Can't go that far.

If my memory doesn't fail 2005 album of the year was Sabaton - "Primo Victoria"
